Question Solar Powered Fan??

For one im not sure if this is in the correct spot in the forums so If I am in the wrong please tell me.

I am looking into buying a solar powered window air vent to help keep the temperature down in my car and I was wondering if anyone knows of one that is the best to get or even if they are worth getting.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Toyota have that on their Third-Gen Prius. Ask how it works for them.

The Mazda 929 had a solar panel on the sunroof which would operate fans to cool the interior. Yes, back in 1990.

Yes, I remember them well, I was the first to drive a newey at our Dealership.

A white 4 door with Gray/Blue Leather interior.
V6...Auto..

WOW.. that was one smooth and beautifully appointed Mazda..
Rear Power Steering
4:300 Diff.
Auto AC..
Solar Panel Sun Roof ($3,300) for two rear Fans to cool interior while parked, it also charged the Cars Lead Battery.
Heated Door Mirrors
ABS
Foot op Emergency Brake
Rear Muffler with Twin side by side Outlets, had a Cable/Electric Motor operated Air Valve Flap on one Outlet , from memory it was closed below 3500 RPM and opened up over 3500 RPM..or could have been 4K??

But yeah, it was the Lexus LS400 of it's time.

Road and drove like a Mercedes and priced at $87,000 AUD.!!

I remember driving one in Japan, it was called the Sentia. I didn't know it had that... I do remember the analog clock, I thought that was really cool.

Not many. I rarely see them nowadays, and when I do, they are beat to **** .

I always loved the styling and innovation. Too bad Goliath (Lexus, Merc, BMW, Acura, Infiniti) won the fight.

Yeah, I'd love to have one as a VIP car. The four wheel steering was a plus, too!

Yeah, the 92 Mazda 929 (HD Chassis?) which was available in 1991 (Go figure) was plush with technology and beautiful design. It had some shortcomings though including the absence of a glovebox as Mazda was early to the game with passenger side air bags and did not seem to think there was enough room. It had under engineered dampers and undersized brake rotors that were somewhat prone to warping and window regulator cables that would break if you looked at them funny.

Some had the solar equipment including ventilation fans. They sold less than they could have with stronger advertising. I would guess that the HD 929 shared architecture with the Eunos Cosmo and therefore should accept a 20B transplant cheerfully , but that's not what this thread is about .

Paul.

If you have a sunroof, you're better off tilting that open and keeping the shade closed.
Add to that a windshield parking shade and park the car facing the sun so that the least ammount of light hits your interior to keep it from heating up.

If you can tint your windows, that will help tremendously as well.

Those solar powered fans that you hang on your window are a hassle, and not very effective.
