I think the MX-5 has them beat as far as looks. But the interior gos to Pontiac.

 

Solstice is outselling the MX-5 in the US market. It's a very different car IMHO. Without a trunk or practical top, it's not a practical daily driver/primary car. But with the extra stiffness/weight, I think the chasis was designed for the GXP FI model coming out. Seems more like a weekend racer to me. The new Supra would be my choice, but it competes in a more upscale market.

 

Well the Solstice and Sky are basically the same car so read the MX5/Solstice comparos if you want an idea how the Sky will stack up.

Summary: MX5 wins as the more pure roaster but Solstice isn't far behind.

Since it won't be long before the Solstice has the GXP version, I guess we'll get a Mazdaspeed MX5 soon too.

 

I was set to purchase a Solstice till the dealer told me if I hadn't ordered it 8 months ago, it would be well into '07 before one came available. And I just saw one in person the other day, and I am glad i got my 8. But, that Saturn is very nice.

 

But do you think Mazda will make a MS MX-5 with comparable power to the GXP???

 

Um, you guys know that the SKY and the Solstice are exactly the same chassis, right?

 

If history repeats itself, we all know how Mazda stacks up in HP wars. Drop the MS6 engine in there Mazda!!!

 

I heard there is already a company that will do an LS1 swamp into the Pontiac or Saturn. There is also an upgraded supercharged version too. I can't even imagine that much power in something so small.

 

Wow... those things will lift off the air.

 

Next year, the GPX version comes out pushing 260hp.

Also the engine bay is capable of taking a v8. I doubt the mx5 is going to compete with that...The 8 is not going to be able to keep up with it.

I think I like the solstice more, saturn would only be cool if no one knew it was a saturn.

 

^^ I felt like that too at first. I still think the Solstice is sexy... particularly in black. Certain colors don't look so hot on it though. The Sky looks pretty nice at all angles and colors. What I like better about it over the Solstice is the interior. Looks like there is a popup nav screen on the dash and the stereo controls look pretty "Mazda-like". That Saturn nameplate on the car does suck though...

 

Yeah the nameplate says "Hey, this company is really cool........on saturn"

 

Im pretty sure the pontiac and saturn are the same.Just like a GMC vs chevy.

 

I don't know that much about shi77y american cars, sorry hahaha. Just kidding I think that pontiac is ok.

 

Saturn needs to come out with a non-standard symbol to put on that car so people don't feel like a putz driving it.
