Shopping for new cars ! Mazda3 GT ? Wait for Nissan Leaf? Or ???
I gotta buy a new car.
Honda FIT is not bad, but I guess its time to move on ... I need an Automatic Transmission car so people other than myself can actually drive it *sob sob*
Don't tell me to "teach" other people how to drive a stick. They're f-ing retarded so NO. I am not wasting my time.
So the Orange Honda FIT has to go. My Friend just trade his FIT in to Nissan at around 13.5K , about same mileage as might, his is 2009 and mine is 2008, not bad IMO. I probably can get something like 13K+. since I drive less than him. alot less. and my color is rare. Manual could be a problem tho, whatever.
Couple months ago I put my money down to reserve a Nissan Leaf. Its not a bad car for city commute :
Pros :
- I dont need to do oil change, ever.
- It runs on electric, just charge it over night and Im ready to go around.
- Its "Cool"
- Helps the environment (in some way)
Cons :
- Nissan still haven't give me any information about the home charger installation, when and where can I get it ?
- No warranty information, even the car should come by December. less than 6 months away ...
- STILL too little charging station across the nation. there is more on the West Coast, but on the East side ... argh ... so if I wanna go far thats not really possible.
- Nobody knows how to fix these cars other than Nissan Dealership within the foreseeable future.
Looking and looking ... I wanted to get the Subaru WRX but Its all Manual ...
So, Back to Mazda, hmm, Mazda3 looks fine to me. has everything Im looking for, but I was doing research on it and it seems that Mazda might have the "i-stop" option next year ...
now I wonder should I wait for that or just "go for the current model" ... or just keep waiting for the Nissan Leaf ... argh ...
Toyota Matrix looks like **** to me ...
I need a hatch-back type of car. and no I don't want any 1998 Civic DX. VteC just KiCk in y0 !
Argh .... ARGH ...
/end rant

i'm really digging the mazda2. saw a green one on the road the other day and i really liked it. otherwise, you can't lose w/ the mazda3. the only downside is that demand is high and deals aren't as good. as for the fiesta, i went to check them out yesterday but all the dealer had were 4-doors, which really pissed me off. i suspect a lot of dealers might think *americans don't like hatchbacks* so ordered mostly sedans; or maybe it was just a fluke
if you don't absolutely want a hatch tho, i might also wait for the mazda6 diesel that's supposed to be coming here real soon
i'd hold off on the leaf, just to see how it is after it's come out for a while

dont' get the leaf. do you really wanna be a 1st year guinea pig for Nissan's electric car experiment?
I never buy 1st year models, there's bound to be all kinds of quirks / issues / recalls.
is MPG your top priority?

Best opinion.
DO NOT BUY THE LEAF. It is the first year model run of a car with a completely new design and concept.
It will have bugs that need to be worked out.
SO say no to the first year model run.

Yep, I mentioned the FT 86 in the mustang vs. camaro thread. If Mazda doesn't come out with the new rotary around the time the FT 86 comes out, then I'll seriously consider the FT 86.
nycgps is looking for a cheaper car to go along with his RX8. I would go with the Mazda 3s sedan instead of the hatchback.

Thx for the input guys.
Ok lets see the replies ...
hmm, Well I need a hatch for sure, look like a teenager ? whats wrong with trying to be young? well I need a hatchback to carry stuff ... sometimes. We all know the 8 can't carry much.
As for Mazda2, I thought about it, I like the design and color (Green or the light light blue coming later this year), but jumping from a Honda FIT to a Mazda2 is like jumping from one car to another thats in the same class ... Not like there is anything wrong with this but, if I do that, I might as well just keep my FIT the way it is. Know what I mean ?
9k, the Fiesta huh? like REsuperD said, most of the Ford dealerships around me either stock tons of Sedans or the Hatch with ugly colors. So no ...
Jedi, MPG is not my biggest concern, the Looks is.
As for the LEAF, I will cancel it, like most people here said, its their 1st year model based on a whole new concept. Its gonna have **** load of bugs ... thats for sure, but my biggest concern with this car is that Nissan still have no Warranty information available ... and its already July Almost August, 4 months from now the car should be in the showroom, I mean wtf ? so I will cancel it soon (maybe I should sell my reservation spot on ebay, some sucker might pay top dollar for it lol)
FT86 ... I want it, but I am not buying a f-ing AT for it.
Volt ... a car that cost 50 grand b4 all the tax credit ? no thx. Not to mention I think its sharing one big problem with the LEAF ---- its first year model car, too many unknows + its GM? hmm ... sorry to say but judging from their history, I don't trust their stuff. no matter how good it looks on paper.
I really like the Subaru Imprezza WRX (STi or not) design, some ppl hate their new hatch I know. I like it. but its MT ONLY. so no
*sigh* ...
Kia SOUL? I hate that car, and their Commercial for that car suck *** (I say it suck ***)
If I want a Kia SOUL kind of car I rather get Nissan Cube. seriously. the SOUL looks like a bigger version of Scion xD. and I hate it.
BMWs has nothing (so price isn't a problem ... not much of a problem ...)
I thought about VW, but hmm nothing that I really like
Nothing from Audi.
hmm ...
Argh ... Mazda3 ... ? I am sorta used to its new "smiley face" look but ... I don't know its kinda weird sometimes.

I love the Kia Soul commercial with the guinea pigs. But the car rides and handles super super soft. The suspension is out of sorts and not properly developed and tuned. The car looks cool but basically it's a POS.
VW is ****. You want something to break early and often, buy VW or Audi. Same with Mini Cooper. It will break and break and keep on breaking. Total POS. Ford Fiesta? Hell no.
Looks like it's the Mazda 3 hatcbback for you. The grin is cool. Nothing wrong with it. Keeps you happy.

I'm in the same situation. Hate my 8 and want a new ride that looks good and efficient. I'm thinking a 370z or something new from Subaru. My gf has a 2010 Mazda3 hatchback, but it seems dated (I had a 2004 Mazda3 sedan).

the hyundai elantra wagon is also pretty nice. really cheap, efficient, no frills car. the plain impreza wagon/hatch is also pretty nice, especially if you need awd. how about the lancer sportback? they're kinda expensive tho
