Shipping a car

I'm moving from Virginia to New Mexico soon, and I'll need to ship my car (Volvo S40) out there. Has anyone had any experiences (good or bad) with any particular shipping company? I've received about a dozen quotes online, but I don't know anything about any of the companies or about the experience of shipping a car.

Any help is appreciated.

My father ships cars from east to west and vice versa. The usual cost to ship a car from what I saw ranges from $700 to $1200. but usually the pickups and dropoffs has to be within 80-100 miles within usual shipping routes. A lot of companies out there are pretty much independent operators with their own vehicles. What my father does is coordinate pickups and dropoffs with 3 independent trucks with 7-9 car trailers.

I'd try going with company where all the drivers have been driving for at least 5 years. Why I say this? Because my father owned one of these trucks which cost about 350,000 and was totaled by a noob of a driver. Ever since then he'd rather just pay a bunch of independent drivers to pickup and dropoff cars for him.

Anyhow thats all the info I can spare since I can't remember anything else. But good luck with the shipping.

I cant remeber the name of the company, but its the one that Manhiem Auto Auction uses a lot, it was about 600-800 a car to transport it accross the country, my family has done this maby 8 times, with 6 differnt cars, and never a problem.
