It definitely has a good look to it. Almost the hint of a fastback. The hood needs something done to it. Its BLAH! Maybe in the Cobra or Mach1 variation it will have a little more aggressive stance.
The gauges inside definitely have an old school look to them. I wonder how much it weighs? 300hp wont go to far if that thing is like 3500lbs or more. If its the same weight as the 8 I love, it could do wonders.
http://www.caranddriver.com/article....rticle_id=7691 for specs! Does look like it will push 5's for 0 to 60.

I liked the car when I first saw it but now my anticipation has died down quite a bit.
1. There will be a million of them on the road within a year
2. As usual, crappy base model looks just like V-8 model except for wheels.
3. Priced too high at about 30k for the V8 and options are pricey, I would rather have an rx-8, rx-7 or a 4WD turbo for that kind of money.
4. Good but not great looking, still has crappy antennae in the front.
5. Old technology, live axle suspension is a joke.
I do think they did a good job with the interior and you cannot deny the fun of 300hp and rwd. I might get excited again when the higher power variations come out in another year or two. Hopefully they have rectified the horrible ergonomics and terrible shifter feel that plagued the last mustang. The build quality should be better than usual because its being built in a mazda 6 factory and ford realizes its a flagship image car. I will have to wait and see if I truly approve of it.

1. A million? no. I hope it sells well thought, because it IS a step in the right direction.
2. I think the hood is different also and a lower ride hieght. The V8s look ALOT better IMO. Easily differentiable.
3. Umm maybe a fully loaded vert GT will cost 30K. But expect most GTs to go for 24-27K...dont know where you got the crazy prices from.
4. Looks is all subjective.
5. Yes and no.
Im not really a fan of mustangs, but I appreciate them for what they are. And hte new mustang is definiytely better than the 25+ year old model they arer currently selling.

I have to agree with the comment that there will be too many of them on road soon. The design looks pretty good, but I have yet to see it in person. However, after seeing ten+ times a day in the near future, I might get tired of it.
But it is a step in the right direction.

I love seeing restored classic cars, but I absolutely hate this retro copy trash. IMO, it's just as bad as those Lamborghini replica kit cars.
It's almost like Ford coming out and making an announcement that noone with any talent or good ideas works at Ford any more, leaving them no choice but to rehash old designs.

I dont think anyone with any talent or good ideas has worked at ford since the early 70's. They are going retro because its all they can do. If you line all the mustangs up in a row and look at them you will see why they took their styling cues from where they did (the 60's). Mustangs in the late 70's and early 80's were just shameful while the ugly Fox bodies somehow survived until early this year. If they weren't selling the crap out of their trucks and suv's and offering low financing and huge rebates ford would have been run out of the car marketplace a long time ago.

I like the new "old" style on the mustang, but again i agree that everywhere you look there is a mustang. For some reason mustangs are a must have for young high school girls where i am from. kinda strange.

It's just kinda plain... nothing to it really, not that I think the current style is great or something, but it's just missing some key elements that I can not put my finger on.

From the pictures in the mags I thought it was beautiful, and I was really looking forward to it. But once I saw one up in person at the LA autoshow I was underwhelmed. I looks very nice from the outside, but the inside is the same old Ford....cheesy. I bet it would be a really interesting car for a few weeeks then I would get bored of it.

And the more I see those very sleekly designed first and second generations driving on the road (My ultimate favorite would be the 2nd gen fastback) – IMHO it make the 05 look very bulky, blunt and big! This retro look does NOT look hot at all!
Although, I do like the gages a lot!
