Not sure which would win in either race, but I would choose the 'lude. Mainly because I have one right now ('98 MT), and they're great. Reliable, strong, fun!

If you're curious why I'm going with the 8, it's because my car is 5 years old, and the MT vs MT bumps up the 8 solidly.

Which tires come on the AT RX-8? The Prelude got crappy all season RE92's so if the 8 has sticky tires it should win at the track.
Drag strip it will depend on the transmission.. Don't forget the Prelude has a "tiptronic" mode so you could shift yourself I guess.. I think auto Preludes did 0-60 in about 7.9 secs.. high 15's in the quarter..

Auto RX8 has even better tiptronic setup. It has F1 fomula padels behind steering wheel.

They're exactly the same - they're both ordinary 4 speed auto transmissions, it's just a difference of where they place the electronics switches to tell it to slush from one gear to the next (that's why they're referred to as slushboxes). Aside from the little paddle switches, there's absolutely nothing in common with a F1 gearbox, which is a true manual transmission with hydraulic actuators on the clutch and shifters.

Gordon
