Ummm...hate to tell you this, but the Mini Cooper S uses a 1.6 liter engine that has NOTHING to do with the Neon engine. The engine it uses came from a joint venture with Chrysler originally designed to build inexpensive 1.4 and 1.6 liter engines using Brazilian manufacturing sourcing (especially for the South American markets). This was a way for BMW to get a front-drive friendly engine at a much cheaper price...which is what the Mini needed. The details (manufacturing location, etc.) may have changed, but it is not a Chrysler engine that BMW borrowed.
