My wife thinks the RX-8 looks goofy. My sister thinks the Evo and STi look "over the top". My mom thinks my SRT-4 looks like a Viper. My Dad thinks I'm goofy for caring.

If you need a car to get girls you're dating the wring type of women. I met my wife when I was driving a '90 Buick Park Avenue that had about 200k miles on it. I'm pretty sure the car wasn't a factor.

We are head to head until about 110mph, then we simultaneously begin braking because of traffic, it was a tie. Wow that is a huge coincidence...but either you raced some sort of riced out base model Neon, the guy in the SRT-4 wasn't racing, or you quite possibly have the biggest RX-8 factory freak yet to date. There's no way you could have kept up at those speeds. The SRT-4 traps between 98mph-102mph in the quarter mile. I believe the RX-8 traps between 92mph and 96mph. Anything can happen out on the street, but it's improbable that an RX-8 could keep pace with an SRT-4 that weighs significantly less, has about 50 more horsepower and 75 more ft/lbs of torque, and about 5%-8% LESS drivetrain loss.

I swear this really happened, i said it was a coinsidence because i had seen an srt-4 for the first time. After the speed up we stopped and talked for a while, i noticed he had a stick, he probably was not very experienced, therefore leading to the tie.

you right, women shouldent care how your car looks, but they do and it definately helps.

well anyways we exchanged phone numbers and were gonna go to 103rd st tonight to a very big illegal event, well see what happens, peace

oh, the rx-8 does not look wierd and the srt-4 looks like.....a neon not a viper

Seriously, I was considering both cars before I bought my 8. If it wasn't because both lease payments were about the same (higher interest rate and residual), I would be got the SRT. Yes it doesn't look good, it can friggin handle on rails, brakes are awesome and the power potential is way ahead of the 8. I mean I could be running 12 flat with a few thousand dollars of mopar mods and still have my warranty, can't beat that. I mean if you want performance, then I think the srt is the way to go, a car already built for forced induction and that can handle. But the 8 has the looks, the interior luxuries, handles/brakes and the refinement is what's good in the 8, I don't think you would go wrong with both cars.

It's quite possible, and bare with me here, that the guy in the SRT can't drive for ****. It wouldnt be the first kid in a fast car that can't drive and it surely won't be the last.

Two eqaul drivers, SRT stomps the 8 in a drag race....FACT.

I dare anyone to come up in there SRT-4 and Blow me out of the water in my 8. Yes, they will beat me, but not as big of a gap as you all non-RX8 owners think! If you want to go to a track and find out, email me! Most of you under-estimate the 8 because of it Broad Power Band!
I date women of substance that don't place what a man drives on a list of importance, thanks. You'll whoop that SRT-4 just like your AT RX-8 whooped the Crossfire right

Ike... If you properly read what I said, you would know that I was more or less putting forth what the "regular" car buyer who isnt an enthusiast would think of the STi.... they aren't my sentiments.

man you're touchy
You said enthusiasts, not just regular car buyer, and I was reffering to the car buyers not caring what it can do, not you. This part "(entusiast or not)", that's what I was responding to.

when I said "enthusiast or not" that was under the context of making a purchase... and well yeah... enthusiast or not when it comes to dropping your cash down on a car... things CAN change for many, for many different reasons. and it doesnt mean you are not an enthusiast because you can admire a car for what it offers but not want to buy it... those are two different things... unless you have an unlimited supply of cash... I dunno Ike.. maybe you do but I certainly dont

not sure if the looks discussion is still going on somewhere in the background, but i thought i'd say the following, and i think most of us here can agree:

Looks:

1. RX-8
2. SRT-4
3. STi

Performance (mostly straight line performance):

1. STi
2. SRT-4
3. RX-8

To me, this gives the SRT a nice balance between looks and performance. But then looks are subjective... and performance can mean a whole lot of things.

Wow this thread has been at the top of this list for almost a week so I'll put in my two cents.. The SRT-4 is the BEST overall cars(For car enthusiests, not people who don't care about what they drive) for the price, no other car in it's price range can touch it, If I didn't have enough money for an 8 there would be NO doubt in my mind that I would be driving and SRT-4.

Looks are always gonna be subjective. Personally I like to watch WRC on the Speed Channel, so when I see an STi or Evo driving around I'm like a little kid with a big ****-eating grin from ear to ear. They look so mean to me, yet so functional at the same time. The SRT-4 is based on a Neon so making it look aggressive was a challenge. The key is the front fascia. Dodge sorta based it off a Viper. To me the RX-8 looks very sporty (especially with the small spoiler option) except for the front fenders.

Just try and tell me these aren't sexy... Raj, you don't deserve to test drive an STi if you think the SRT-4 looks better :p

VelocityRedBeast, if you feel the SRT-4 is the best overall car, why did you still end up wanting an 8?

Ike, far be it from me to criticize others' taste in the erotic, but if you think those are sexy, well, let's just say I hope your significant other appreciates you. :D

Ike you always seem to bring old things up. And I wish I did have a video of what happened. I'm not starting that convo up again, you THINK what you want. I KNOW what happened. What a man drives does show what kind of taste he has. Its the difference between wearing Old Navy Clothes and wearing Faconnable. It's called class. The Neon is pure sporty looking. The RX8 has a sporty look with an elegant appearance. And thats not saying their putting a mans car on their list, but its shows the women what kind of taste the man has. By the way I never said I would whoop the SRT-4, I know I would lose to it but I was saying not by a big margin as you non-rx8 owners think. I'm giving an offer to anyone who wants to test me. To bring their SRT-4 to a track and I'll prove that point.

if i were to choose between an RX8 and a Neon to pull up to a party in with my woman, it'd be the RX8 hands down.

nothing says 'class' like a neon....i don't care what letters you put after it.

As a performance machine the SRT4 is pretty good especially when you couple it with price... I can give total respect to it as an enthusiast.

BUT

Nothing changes the fact that I would feel a little ridiculous paying thousands and thousands of dollars to drive it around on the street as an "everyday driver" (I personally think it LOOKS cheap and juvenile)... same goes for your "dead sexy" STi Ike... but thats just my opinion

again.. I'm not trying to take away from what those cars can do; they are impressive cars... but as i said earlier... when its time to put my hard earned money down.... things definitely change

Maybe compared to the SRT, the 8 has 'class' and 'elegance', but left on its own amongst all cars, I wouldn't choose it as either classy nor elegant.

People who judge others on material possesions are vain and shallow.

I drive a '04 Camry Solara right now, incase anyone wanted to judge me on that one. It's a nice car too.

Just so we are clear.
This is elegant

This is the RX8 personified

Elegant, no. Classy, no. Hot...debateable.

Material Possesions? Are you telling me they make people shallow? RX8 has way more class than a Neon SRT-4 and a Mercedes SL500 has way more class than a 8. Are you understanding where I'm coming for now?

did yuo read my post? I said for the price, "IF I COULDN'T AFFORD THE 8 THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT I WOULD BE DRIVING AN SRT-4 NOW."

Totally disagree. To posers that are stuck in the 80s some status symbol car maters. Hello, you drive a freaking Mazda not a Masserati. When I buy a car I look for fun to drive first, practicality second, what others think isn't even a consideration. Gone are the days of power lunches and power suits.

Shamble, you don't have an AT do you, because that's what Cas was driving at the time. He even went so far after being repeatedly told the Crossfire probably wasn't racing and his threads were closed as a result of violating forum rules to make a few more posts on the subject including a poll. After that didn't work he posed as a Crossfire owner on the Crossfire forums and talked about how his wife owns an AT RX-8 and her car beat his, it was rather comical and pathetic.

Cas you're a weird guy, I remember how you went on and on about how fast your AT RX-8 was, and how it shifts faster than an MT so it's better. A few months later after getting bashed and laughed at by many people on the board you all the sudden have an MT RX-8. You seem like someone that just follows the masses and are easily influenced by others once you've given up your misguided beliefs. That's not much different from most members of society, but I for one will never live that way.
