RX-8 or 97 TT supra?
This was an option for me before I bought my car. There was a 97 TT supra sitting at my dad's friend's dealership with 28,000 miles on it, he only wanted 22,000 for it. I'm starting to regret not buying it... Don't get me wrong, the RX-8 is a great looking car and all but a TT Supra? Who would have gone with the Supra instead? Be honest, just because you own an RX-8 doesn't mean you have to be biased towards it.

A supra is a boat. Car is a mammoth. Though the 2jz-gte may pack a big punch, the car remains to be a boat... end of story.
Rx8 is light and a piece of art. The engine is rotary.... what else is needed to be said here.

Depends on the person, I went to your homepage took a glance; it seams your rather big on the whole aftermarket mod. stuff. Not to say that you're immature, but I grew out of the body kit etc. stuff a while ago. B4 I get flamed for that I understand its isn't something only 17 year old kids do, its a hobby, and I respect your hobby (similar to the way I respect other religions just would never be part of them), and in some applications aftermarket modification looks stunning.
That being said if I were YOU I would have gone for the supra, being as the RX-8 is more your practical Sports CAR, and while I doubt the aftermarket support for the 8 will be low, it won't be anywhere near what is available for the supra, and a lot of people won't have the respect for a modded Rx-8 as the would for a Supra. Just an opinion.

If you want a 320 HP beast that is easier to make faster and is a legendary car that can easily be made faster. Personally I will always lust after that car but the RWD just isn't practical for me as an every day driver. It is heavier than an RX-8 but it also has more potential than the RX-8 and most other imports ever will, at least in a straight line. I would imagine the insurance rates for the Supra will be a little more than the RX-8, and it's going to be tougher getting good financing on a 5 year old used car. Even so, if I lived in a different area where the winters aren't so brutal there's a good chance I would be driving a Supra TT, one of the most beautiful cars ever made IMO.

Yeah it was a bad choice. You had a chance to buy a TT for $22,000. Worst , it only had 28,000 miles. You could of sell that kind of supra for $30000+ easily.
Overall i really like the exterior of the rx-8. but at certain angles the rx-8 looks plain ugly.
plus, if u had the money, with $20,000 turbo mod, u can turn that supra into an 1000+hp car. 0-60 in 2.6 seconds :p
last year, I've witness a TT supra (460hp) that was sold for $37,200. Too bad for you.

I ve seen Supra TT with 6sp traga go for 55k on the autotrader. I would have purchased the supra and sold it for 40k then purchased the 8 with the mazdaspeed kit.

Agree with PoLak.
If I were you, 97 Supra.
For me, I prefer the practicality and nimbleness of the RX-8.
I would've easily taken that Supra over the 350z and G35 for sure.
Do you have the Mazda Buyback option?
Whether you do or not though, there is no real "wrong decision" here. Both are awesome cars with specific characteristics.

Supra. Yuk! I just do not get that car.
So big on the outside, so little on the inside. Why did they even put useless seats in the back? It is a Japanse mustang/camaro. Granted it has a amazing motor.

Whoa, that price is WAY low, even for an AT. Are you sure the car was TT and not NA? Is there something majorly wrong with the car or the title? Do you know if it's still there?
If it really was a mint TT for that cheap, you definitely should have jumped on it. Even if you didn't want the car, you could have just resold it and made a quick $5k-10k.

Either way you can't go wrong. I'd be happy with your decision, as far as potential modifications for the Renesis goes, we're are at the very first stages. I don't think any of us are really sure how much hp it can produce - especially if your talking about a possible lower compression motor for forced induction applications.
The idea of buying the Supra and selling it for a profit would have been a good move, though.

Isn't the Supras engine legendary for its stiffness and friendliness to high compression??...iron block or something along those lines, right?
Well, I pick both. The Supra (despite FF & 2F2F crap...the reason behind the high prices) is a very nicely done design. Maybe not practical, but that thing has presence. The 8 takes a different approach....
