Rx-7

Alright heres the problem I'm looking for an Rx-7 in the central florida area for 12,000 or less. Im selling my 2001 eclipse for around that price so 12g is about all i can spend. My parents have an rx-8. I want something fast or im going to have to get a Wrangler. I really want the rx-7 though so if anyone knows anyone who can help me out it would really be appreciated.

Try autotrader.com. Otherwise look on ebaymotors.com and like -8- said, rx7club.com is good too.

Trust me, you don't want a $12k FD.

If you do buy an FD for under 15K, be prepared to spend thousands in the first year to get the car up to snuff. If you buy an FD for over 15K, have some money put aside for any eventualities. Be prepared to shop around. It took me a long time to find my car and I went far in my search. Good luck. Research this over at the 7 board.

I was in the same boat as you.
I wanted to spend ~15K on a car and was set on an FD.
After looking for two months i came to the realization that you cant get an FD for that price in good condition.

So I got an FC and have a bunch of money left over...they are great cars too.

yea not to much up on the lingo right now fd? fc? but yea im thinking about ebay because there are some cheap ones on there for around 8-9 that look decent and thatll give me a few extra grand to mess around with. The only way id get the rx-7 is if its 3rd gen

then be prepared to spend AT LEAST twice that for something that runs, and won't blow up when you take it around the corner.

Like you've been told, you WILL NOT get a 3rd gen. for $15000. At least not one I'd want to own. There is nothing wrong with the early RX7s. We had a 83. Chirp the tires all the way to 3rd gear.

i was told i wouldnt get an fd for that price then i said i had no idea what a fd or fc or fu was. no need to get your panties in a twist big guy you kinda sound like my dad. anyways. thanks for all the help guys def changed my views on things. the older models really dont appeal to me. i really like the 3rd gen body style. it was between a 7 and a jeep wrangler. i wanted something fast that looked sweet or a 4x4.

yep.
I've spanked a stock FD (3rd gen) in my FC (2nd gen) it was funny

Both are great cars. The FC (turbo) is a little more reliable than an FD, stock for stock.
And they handle great too (fd is better, duh).

But if all you cared about is looks and going fast, i dont think an FC or FD would be good for you IMO.

Hey, we're just trying to help you out here. I'd hate for anyone to buy a car that they thought they loved only to find out it's not a bargain but a dog. If you buy an FD with issues and can't afford to fix it you may be stuck with no car and no money.
An FD or a Jeep? Totally different but at least you're open to variety.

Ok i was misquoted i want something thats fun to drive and something that some ricer wont embaress me in, an my first thought was an fd rx-7. my parents just got an 8 and.......wow i love that car. not to beat a dead horse so if i found an fd on ebay for around 8 or 9 then i put 2-3 grand into it that still wont be enough. some of the ebay fd i saw looked like they had some work done to them. if its still around, looks good that means they must have done work on it so it doesnt "blow up when you take it around the corner." i dont like the styling of the fc that i have seen...to 80's-ish for me. fd is what im set on right now and its going to suck if i dont have the $$ for it.
heres a good one i was driving around the 8 today and 2 kids pulled up next to me in a 94 mitsubishi eclipse with some body work and prob a coffee can on the back. i didnt feel like racing. the revved rolled down the window and just shook their head. they shot off then slowed down to call me a *****. im not having that, next light they revved up and took off they had liek a fender on me i wanted to make them feel good. i started shifting at about 5000rpm caught up to them and idled with them. they were at full throttle. i told them "you guys should go home and light that car on fire." then i punched it and immediatly took about 6 car lengths on them and shut down around 90 mph in a 45.

hey man its either and fd or a 4x4. heres the deal. we have to keep this on the DL. ill buy the car and if something happens.....and its a big oo **** something important just broke, and i dont have the money my parents will most likely (90% sure) pay for it. the last thing they want is for me to be at school living off campus without a car for a very long time. they'll pay to fix it or pay for something to keep it from breaking, they wont buy it or pay for performance uprgrades.

I agree with you, I don't really care for the FC. Now the FD, oh my!

Who the hell cares whether you are going to get embarassed by a ricer? Ricers will embarass themselves before they embarass you. An FD RX-7 and a Jeep are like apples and oranges. Which one is better to get? Heck, if I was in your situation, I'd get the RX-7, but I do like Jeeps. Hard bargain, waterpolo101010.

That sounds dangerously like a street racing story. Those are not allowed here on this forum.

yea shelly i kno they're liek apples and oranges, thats whats driving me crazy right now. I wouldnt want to lose to a ricer and i dont think anyone in this board wants to get beat by a car with a wing that could fit a plane

well son The mods here take street racing very serious. I believe first offense is a temporary ban and the post is deleted.

Forgive me for trying to help out!

Not only street racing but a load of BS as well. Everything about that thread screams I'm some stupid kid and I'm going to make up a BS story to make myself sound cool.

This isn't a street racing forum. Want to post kills, go to

www.rx7club.com

Those guys love made up stories .
