Rusty Hood
Hoodride. Started in aircooled VW scene, then spread to watercooled German cars. One of the originators:

Car was sanded to bare metal, then pissed on and left to rust.
The owner of that car also had an MK3 with a rusted hood, but I have no idea if that was the first hoodride waterpumper. The scene, or at least the label, has largely disappeared from the VW community - the owner of that car, DopeBeatDerrick, turned out to be a scumbag.

I have to admit, it is striking. Almost interesting.
I don't really "get" it, but I get it.
Its just another one of those odd human idiosyncrasies - indirectly demonstrate how much you care by feigning a care-free attitude.

Wtf have you been?
People wearing pants down to their knees? Hell I've seen people where **** down to their ankles.
You need to go out more.
Yep. I been a member over at The Car Lounge for years- which is mostly frequented by VWVortex members, and this has been around for a while. It's just part of that youthful "I don't know who I am, but I know I'm not you" individualism.
