My first time posting a link on my phone but here goes.
These guys built my renesis had some issues but they owed it and fixed it. My experience was positive and I'd go back.
On the east coast of Canada in little Saint John NB we have -Saint John engine builders - https://saintjohnengine.com/
I put off the rebuild as long as I could, until the low compression "hot start" became unbearable (i.e., praying it didn't die at stop lights). Finally broke down and took the car to Rotary Resurrection in Morristown, TN and I couldn't be happier with the result. Kevin basically built a new engine except for the rotors, which were in good shape, and the car runs like new. Not only did he fix my engine problems but he installed a new clutch, fixed my malfunctioning headlight levelers, and repaired a damaged rear suspension, all for around $4000. He also sent photos showing every step of the process so I wasn't kept in the dark wondering what was going on. If you're looking for someone to get your RX8 up and running again, I highly recommend Kevin. If you want more info or have questions about my rebuild feel free to reply to this post and I'll gladly answer them. Or you can contact Kevin at https://www.rotaryresurrection.com/
Thanks BigC, for the effort to initialize and maintain this thread. I'm hoping to revive the spirit in my '04 and this thread gives me two good starting points.

I can vouch for Rotary Resurrections (http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/2ndgen/contact.html)
Kevin did my rebuild in June and I haven't had a single hiccup out of the engine. Matter of fact, while he had it he fixed a couple of suspension problems for me and replaced a worn clutch. Great guy and his work is immaculate!

Thanks for your input.
He does have a solid reputation.
I will also add that people should educate themselves on what is important in engine building, and a lot of the attention to detail you see in piston engine builders does cross over to quality rotary builders. There is also a lot of misinformation regarding what makes power, and what doesn't. For example, the proven high HP drummond engines are not ported.

Have a long conversation with your rebuilder and make sure you understand what to expect after the rebuilt engine is broken in. If possible, get any warranty terms in writing.
friendly reminder of some good points made previously ...
People might also want to review the experiences of others regarding some rotary rebuild vendors from RX7Club, as they’ve been around the block quite a few more times than anyone here. Especially since just any old link is being posted here with the vague warning to do your own research first:
But, one and IMO the best, would be Darryl Drummond. He built the sealed Renesis engines used in the Star Mazda Formula Race Cars and a buddies Renesis from him made 268HP on the engine dyno.
just FYI that Daryl is now mostly retired with the exception of a certain few past customers. IMO he is a legend for Renesis race engine work and knowledge. 50+ years of rotary engine experience and well known in racing circles, his influence and race engine work places him in an upper echelon of a very few, rare individuals.

Spoke with Jesse in Topeka, Kansas. He replied that he has retired from rebuilding rotary engines and suggested Haag performance in California, Sacremento, Haag performance

Many of us need rebuilds, and I've spent a good bit of time searching.
I can't seem to find a thread with a substantial number of reputable rebuilders, so I thought I would post the ones I've seen referenced on our forum.
Locations and reviews may help new members, and save time for the rest of us.
Rogue River, Ore.* Drummond Engines 541.761.5520
* Member TeamRX8 reports the owner is mostly retired now and is doing selected rebuilds, I'll leave it up for the time being.
Laurel, Indiana http://www.eccentricmotorsports.net/
(A member recommends this shop, no mention of rebuilds on the website.)
*This link is no longer viable, 3/30/19
TomD_Cincy reports they are still on Facebook.
Cresson, TX. http://goteammer.com/
(Apparently, this shop builds racing engines, not ordinary rotary rebuilds, I'll leave it in case someone wants to build a RACE CAR.)
Update: 7/31/18
A member reports MER doesn't do actual rebuilds. https://goteammer.com/services/rotary-service/

Hello sorry to post here im new and cant start a new thread. hope you can help me im getting fed up with my 8. i recently bought an 05 mt 6 port. car was misfiring badly and rpm was going up and down. misfiring was fixed ive put new spark plugs and coils. change oil etc. till now only problem im getting is its ideling badly. after some inspection ive found that the engine was changed. the car originally came wit a 4 port engine qnd they changed it to 6 port but is still using a 4 port ecu. so what can be made to change this apart from changing the ecu because they are expensive here.
