Repeated O2 code?

About a month ago I bought a 05 rx8 with 78k miles and after a week I got a o2 code. Replaced the sensor and it popes up again. This time I replaced the plugs and wires. It ran good for a few days but on my half hour drive to work my engine light popes up again. So i pulled in to a gas station and called my mechanic. But I had to wait 30min before it would start. And now every time I pull up to a stop sign it idles low an occasionally shuts down. I have no idea what's causing this. I was told to use 91octane and the guy before me used only synthetic oil. Plus there is a cherping sound when I start to accelerate. I make a few distance drives a month but usually it small town driving and half hour to and from work. Does anyone know y the light keeps popping up. And What should I look for to fix it?

Thank you
Fetsch

you need to have the codes read. Without them, it could be a number of things...

If you get the actual code, that would help.

Possible issues:
plugs/ coils/ wires not installed properly
eccentric shaft position sensor
O2 sensor
Leak in system
low compression
etc
etc

Time to pull you cat an check that it isn't melted or clogged. That should have been your first step.

3027 might not even be one. In his defense when I asked him he was juggling kids and a 390 install
