Renesis powered Miata listed on ebay.

Came across this little rocket on ebay. Thought I would share. It is not a perfect car but a good start and improvement over a spec miata. My first concern is that I do not see any oil coolers. Of course the paint leaves a lot to be desired too.

Correction, they say it has a large oil cooler.

It also has crappy shocks... tells a lot on the overall build quality

Looks like the car was built as a toy/advertisment for the car dealership.

Motor came out of an 04 but unknown on the mileage. I am sire the seller will answer all questions.

Agreed about the megan coilovers, but thats not a big deal. They will work or can be easy changed out. Honestly a custom spring rate and valving needs to be done.

Sure is not a big deal but if you cut corners on a car's suspension there's a huge chance you used butter to build the rollcage and tuned it with an old nintendo..

They say they have engine bay pics but couldn't post them after the bidding started...

I'm not saying this is an indication of the quality of work, but come on... engine bay pics should have been VERY high on the list when we're talking about an engine swapped car. Considering that is pretty much the single largest modification, I would expect that to follow immediately after the basic pics of the exterior. Assuming the swap was done well, you can fix a lot of the other stuff and still get a decent deal out of it if the price is right.

For those of you who missed the Q & A section where the seller directs you to the engine bay pics, http://www.autotrader.com/dealers/dd...er_id=55970363

lol why are they still running the coolant through the throttle body???

Project has a "i don't really care for the end result" feel to it ... areas are def overlooked and rushed ... however, it is not TERRIBLE

"Approximately 300 horsepower???" Lol wut ... more like 200

Only due to the fact the car is significantly lighter than the 8.

I've seen this car in person at the track. Build quality aside, the owner seemed genuine enough. I found it interesting that he hooked up an alternator switch to turn it off in the straights. I don't really know if it does anything or not but he seemed to think the engine gains about 30 hp when switched off. I wonder if having it off causes other problems though...

In that car maybe not, but we have electric power steering, which needs some serious juice on demand. Would be sad to flatline a battery (and the car) during a track session because of a drained battery....

^ In my discussion with the owner he said it gets used as a sort of "push to pass" sort of thing.

Cutting the alternator is a bad idea. A suddon drop from 14volts to low 12's has a high likelihood of effecting the fuel injection, specifically the fuel pump.

^not unless you activate an aux inline small battery at the same time to bump the voltage

I don't remember seeing another battery but didn't really look for it either.
