Question Question

if the LEXUS came out with a SC330 (simular design to SC430) in 2 more month would u guys still get RX8 or would u reconsider ur options? I think i would because i own 2 lexus and they dont have anything problems and they got the best service in the whole world.

It is widely known and acknowledged that Lexus models have great reliability, and Toyota went all out to ensure the Lexus dealerships offer first-rate attention to customers. I'll still buy an RX-8 - first because I love the little rotary and can't even imagine yet how much I'll like the new one, and 2nd because I love sports cars, esp. those that Mazda creates. I get several car mags, get car connection daily industry update emails, but since they are finally getting the RX-8 to market, I can't imagine owning another car as my preferred driving car for a very long time, esp if the RX-7 returns. Now, for a family car, a Lexus would certainly be tempting - but I'll probably favor a Mazda6. Just a little too much cost for me in general - though if we discuss used cars, a used LS400 would be great - and I scan the classifieds often for those and Q45s just to be aware of where the prices are for them.

Talking well...

there has been rumors spreading in the Lexus form saying that SC330 or 300 might come anytime soon.... but IMO i would take a lexus over mazda, not saying that mazda is bad but from my past experience with lexus it's been wonderful!! Free Car wash, service is great, and the realiablity is the best.... btw i bet the SC330 is going to cost around 40,000 IF it ever comes out..... pretty much out of most people's price range.... atleast mine:D

Haven't really thought about the situation like this...but... Mercedes used to be a bit more exlcusive of a marque than it is now but their cars were the most reliable models on the market in general - but that reliability and prestige came with a price tag - they were always in the way over average maintenance cost in Consumer Reports annual ratings. But now Lexus is almost taking that place - their reliability appears to have surpassed the 3point star's and the cost is getting very near the MB as MB has been trying to become more competitive. Interesting transition...

While Lexus is a most reliable car, it is a boring car. I have not seen a Lexus that I would buy yet. I looked at the IS300, but it is styled like a Toyota Altezza, has an instrument panel that is hard to read, only has a 5 speed manual and takes over 7 secs to get to 60 mph.

The RX-8 on the other hand . . . well, need I say more!

Well, that would be in a totally different class .... even the least expensive Lexus the IS300, fully loaded is much more expensive than the RX-8 loaded.

I do agree, Toyota make very very reliable cars. Lexus quality is the very best you can find in the world. I have been waiting for Toyota to make a new sporty machine that fits my criteria but that never happened. (Well, they did, as in the MR2 SW20, but that's a distant memory now)

Nope, that's one of the last cars I would consider cross-shopping. The RX-8 is a full 4 seat sports coupe, emphasis on light weight, maneuverability, responsiveness, fun, with manual transmission. The Lexus SC (all opinions on styling aside ) is a 2 seat convertible cruiser, automatic only, in the mode of the Jaguar XK8 etc.

They're not at all comparable once you get beyond them each having 4 wheels. If I were looking for one, then I certainly wouldn't consider the other!

Regards,
Gordon

lookin for confirmation...i heard a while back that MB changed the way they built cars. i was told they used to build a car to whatever their idea was, and then price it out when they were done, and now they set a price and try and fit their idea of the car into that price category. rumor? or no?
