422hp/408tq, 3800and change lbs, launch control on the Manual SS and a Heads Up display! Hope I can wait until spring 2010, may have to take the hit and buy next year.

SS also got the same gearbox as the ZR1... the Tremec TR6060. That thing is built like a brick shithouse. It'll hold gobs of power.

I think I might like the Inferno Orange... will have to see it in person.

even the bottom of the line V6 has plenty of power (same as mustang GT!) and pretty good fuel economy. im impressed

The interior is still *** though.

Do you think you will get one? That would definitely be a step up from GOAT! Power, looks, handeling, better interior.... This Camaro even got me thinking to make the jump,GM has hit a home run with this one!

Couldn't agree more. I don't this car will ever make production. The old F body had issues, but it was quite the performance bargain and it was discontinued due to lack of sales. With $4/gallon gas now a reality, GM is not looking to produce this kind of niche car. Just my opinion.

Guessing you are joking or this is sarcasm. Do you honestly believe they will cancel/hold the camaro when it’s about 6 months from production? They will sell plenty of these especially the V6. Keep in mind the V6 gets better mileage than the RX8, STI, 350z just to name a few. The V8 will sell well initially and then taper off.

You do realize that the Mustang sells well over 100,000 units per year and ins a much inferior product and gets worse MPG compared to the 2010 camaro (I’m sure they will make many upgrades soon).

As of now it’s a loaded Camaro SS, 08 M3 or 08 S5 for me in a year or two. I’ll be watching the CTS coupe as well to see if they put an LS3 in that.

I wonder how close the SS fully loaded with be? They do not want to approach the base corvette price to conflict the buyers choice. vette or camaro, i'd buy the vette.

I'm affraid it is going to be like the mustang....everybody and their mom is gonna be driving one of these....mostly the V6 model...that's for sure... the V8 sounds like it's gonna be kinda expensive. Sweet car nonetheless and i sure will be very tempted to get me one....gonna have to test drive one to see if i like it better than my 8.

I don't think the new Camaro will be as agile as the 8,Z,M3,Sti,EVO, but it will be more capable in the handeling department than a GTO or a Mustang.

Its going to be a toss up with the V6, I hope GM make its potent enough to hold its own, after driving a new Impala SS with its new 300HP V6, I was very dissapointed. It was very weak compared to the Nissan altima 3.5 V6 with less HP. I never driven a GM V6 that i liked, GM magic has always been in there V8's.

I don't think the V8 will be no worse than a fully loaded RX-8 or 350Z,price wise. Look in the area of mid to high 30's. If Nissan is asking for 42k for there Nismo Z , then GM could definitely get 40k for there SS Camaro which has way more to offer.

im pretty sure the v6 model will start in the mid 20ks, and the v8 will start in the mid 30ks. the SS wont hit 40k unless you get every possible option

I like the 2008 Cobalt SS mention for a run of 8:22. Now that's even more impressive. Supposedly, Exige S and Cayman S ran 8:25.

RX-8 will probably ring it somewhere around 8:37 or so.

Everyone keeps saying "with $4 gas here to stay."

No! $4 gas is not here to 'stay.' It's going much, much lower.

I could explain it from a fundamental or a technical standpoint, but just trust me - the U.S. will see far lower gasoline prices very soon.

I agree... it will handle better than my GTO. But, that's a compliment to the GTO. You do realize the Camaro is based on the Zeta platform that was developed in.... you guessed it.... AUSTRALIA. Holden (the manufacturers of the GTO, not Pontiac) did all the R&D for it, and it's what they use for the current Holden line. I do realize Chevy made some alterations to better suit the Camaro, but I'm very proud of it's lineage. I mean, damn, my car's chassis was designed in the late 90's by Holden and didnt change much at all, except for the larger displacement engines and US spec required changes.

Yes, I'll be buying a beautifully styled and improved version of my current car. I like that.

I actually agree with you, man. I've got this (possibly) insane bet with a co-worker that sometime before the elections in November, we will see $3.00 unleaded regular gas in the US. If I'm right, and believe me, I follow the economics of this fairly closely, I'm going to laugh my silly *** off.

This car looks nice, but it was built for a different age.

There's too much weight and too many overhangs. It's too bulky. And the interior is gimmicky.

You don't have to stoop to the lowest common denominators to do a remake correctly.

I am impressed with the power GM was able to wring out of the V6, though - it embarrasses Ford Mustang V6 figures.

Put me firmly in the "meh" camp.

The looks are just okay. I think that the Mustangs look nicer. Neither compares to the RX8.

The interior looks really cheap and plasticky--perhaps it looks better in person, though.


I will admit that I've never been a fan of American muscle cars.

did you even read the article? the SS is available same time as the v6, the vert starts spring next year.

So I take it you don’t feel all the rotary symbols inside the 8 are a tad gimicy? I actually like the interior from some of the pictures I’ve seen, I’ll reserve final judgment until I have seen other color combos and sat in one myself but over all it looks pretty good. Less gimicy than a Jaguar XF if nothing else.
