I see a lot of people saying cold weather will create this milky substance on your dip stick, it has been generally cold lately but im still worried because my check engine light jus came on. any help would be great.

A CEL could be caused by just about anything...The milky dipstip is pretty normal for cold temps, and if you take a lot of short drives.

We need more info about your 8 (maintenance history, year, mileage, etc.)

When was the last time the coils, plugs, and wires were changed?

That's usually the best place to start.

For the greatest assistance your thread should be in the 'TROUBLE SHOOTING' section and not in the 'GENERAL AUTOMOTIVE'. This section is for everything not related to RX-8s.

Best of luck,

Paul.
