possibility of trade
possibility of trade
Okay, I'm sure I'll get some flameing but just a thought. I'm getting ready to be a dad.... I'm really thinking the set up of the 8 is not going to be very condusive to a baby and car seats so now here I am. I'm thinking about going to a BMW 325 or 30. Any thoughts?
the 335 is going to be a coupe... so a rx8 would be better since it has 4 doors and bigger rear seats... i say IS350... or Audi RS4 (awd FTW!)

The 3 series are great cars... I'm sure just about anyone could be happy with one. But, I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the 8 with kids coming along.
The baby seat discussion has been had a few times around here... most recently at:

Many seats fit in the 8 just fine. The tightest fit for a baby seat is the rear facing infant carrier (used for the first few months) -- tends to cramp whoever's riding in front of that seat. Once you switch to an older infant/toddler seat, it fits really well without much impact on the front seat driver/passenger.
I actually find it easier to load/unload kids from the 8 than other 4 door sedans/SUVs/etc. because of the rear-opening doors and lack of B pillar (you can easily stand facing a forward facing child seat to fasten or unfasten the seat belt).

Why not wait until after the baby arrives and at least try it first. If it doesn't work for you, then why not trade then? Why unnecessarily get another car when the one you have may actually work out just fine?

Besides - flipping cars wastes far more money than worrying about anything else. When you "trade" you eat tax, tag and registration on the new car, eat depreciation on the old car. It's a lose-lose.
My suggested investment for your `8: A couple of the biggest, thickest bath-sheet sized towels you can find which match your interior. The black ones I have used under my three-year-old's toddler seat have protected the RX-8 seat from deformation and debris. Total cost: $20.
