The #6 Porsche Spyder has regained the lead in P2. Remember they fell almost 15 laps down in their class earlier in the race and they've come back. Those are some damn fast cars.

rotarygod 09-30-2006 05:08 PM

Overall lead is no longer held by Audi. Here are the top 5:

Zytek

Creation
Lola

Maybe they can have the Rotary engine rev to 13k rpm and create a worm hole to warp ahead :shocking:

rotarygod 09-30-2006 05:24 PM

Zytek has had some issues and has fallen back.

Yay there are now 3 running cars behind the Mazda. Slowly climbinh back up but that's only through the GT2 class. Actually if they can do that the whole race they may get back up to where they were before the problem but that was only 15th place.

Clavius 09-30-2006 05:39 PM

Man I wanna go take my 8 out to a race track now
Watching this much racing today makes me wanna lug my 8 through some corners

Steiner 09-30-2006 05:41 PM

The GT1 battle between the Corvette and the Aston Martin is, in and of itself, worth the price of admission. Let's hope it's payback for that Ryder cup. LOL.

rotarygod 09-30-2006 05:52 PM

Aston Martin 004
Corvette #9 is back from AM 1 lap
Aston Martin 007 is behind ^ by 1 lap
Corvette #7 is behind ^ AM by 3 seconds

Clavius 09-30-2006 05:53 PM

DAMN awsome pass by the Martin's just now. Just classic racing.. and immediatly following the pass the 'Vette tried to pass but the Martin just put the hammer down and wow... I'm impressed. I definatly can't forget to goto Lime Rock next year. Hmm.. might try to organize a Rx-8 meet/drive for that weekend since usualy Speed World Challenge tags along with the American LeMans series.

I see Mazda is once again back to dominating the slowest car in class category... early in the race it could not even Pass a GT2 Porsche down the back stretch - its time for someone to pull the plug or actually get serious about building a legit car

They are going to announce their plans for next season at Laguna Seca and that will include a new chassis and a new engine program so everything is probably going to change over what they have now.

Senna 09-30-2006 07:02 PM

I'll be at Laguna. Just got the tix yesterday. Hope to get a few good video clips. I'm just glad to see the car competing again!!

Lets hope the changes actually make the Mazda program competitive.

Senna 09-30-2006 07:09 PM

Signed up for On Board Pass at the start of the race. Definitely a God send!!

In car camera of the #8 would've been nice. They did have a camera on the car in a race earlier in the season.

rotary crazy 09-30-2006 07:21 PM

im waching the race too, but the mazda is not doing very good

rotarygod 09-30-2006 07:26 PM

They are in 22nd. There are only 23 running cars left.

rotarygod 09-30-2006 07:26 PM

The #1 Audi (in 2nd place) has spun out under caution!!! He's 3 laps ahead of 3rd place anyways so no harm done.

Senna 09-30-2006 07:33 PM

Is the Mazda out???

Senna 09-30-2006 07:39 PM

1:40 last lap....way slow!

Senna 09-30-2006 07:41 PM

Mazda went behind the wall. The night is over. Mechanical issues, ALMS radio reports fluid on the pit floor. Bummer.

It depends how you want to look at it. The competition Mazda is running 22/23 but the Mazda CX-7 pace car seems to be leading the pack whenever I look. :D:

Still an awesome race whatever your favorite manufacturer may be. How far off is the Vette from the Aston Martin in GT1 right now? I lost track with the kids running around throwing up and screaming for Nickelodien.

rotarygod 09-30-2006 07:48 PM

Asont Martin is 1-2 in their class and Corvette is obviously 3-4. The 2nd place AM is a lap ahead of the 3rd place Corvette. They are making a run for it now.

Looks like Aston is 8 & 9 and Corvette are in position 9 & 10. Pretty remarkable almost 9 hours later.

Indeed, a great race. Not much of Vette person but when you compare the price of an Aston to the price of a Vette you just gotta love it!!

rotarygod 09-30-2006 08:04 PM

Audi wins again.

rotarygod 09-30-2006 08:08 PM

Mazda finishes 5th in class and 22nd overall out of a starting field of 28. 5 cars failed to finish.

rotary crazy 09-30-2006 08:09 PM

well, maybe next time

Im sick of audi winning all the time!
