Perhaps an FE concept car at Tokyo?
Perhaps an FE concept car at Tokyo?
Bwob, the father of the Miata, member here, and Mazda insider recently posted an interesting tidbit. On a thread about the NC Miata, he mentioned that there is a chance that the next generation RX-7 might possibly be shown at this year's Tokyo Motor Show. It would only be a concept version - not a production ready model. It sounded like it was only a possibility, but at least it's good to hear something even if it is speculative. Forgive me if this is already common knowledge, I haven't been paying a tremendous amount of attention.
Here is the link so you can read his comments in context. It's the second of his posts on the thread:

Incidentally, the Tokyo Motor Show is at the end of October, so we still have a while to wait.

Wouldn't that be the FF Concept Car since the RX-8 carries the FE designation? At any rate, that would be awesome! One of the reasons that I am supporting the RX-8 program and want them to be successful is so that a 4th Gen RX-7 will be brought to the U.S. Long Live the Rotary!!!!!
I am not trying to start an argument, but where are you getting SE3P?
Traditionally, the generations of RX-7s and the third/fourth generation of the Cosmo Badge all bore the "nickname" derived from their VIN code. I offer as as example the following:
1st Generation RX-7s = FB
2nd Generation RX-7s = FC
3rd Generation RX-7s = FD
HB Cosmo
JC Cosmo
etc
The RX-8 is an FE
I think the naturally progression would be for the 4th Gen RX-7 to be FF
Just my thoughts...

I'm sure we'll see something at Either Frankfurt and/or Tokyo that is rotary powered (we're guarenteed the RX-8, right? :p ) . If what's new is next gen RX-7 or not is simply conjecture right now, since the people in the know usually sign NDAs.
