Parting ways with my RX8

Well after much waiting and refusing to pay 7-8 grand for 350whp, officially selling my RX8 to a good friend of mine and happy to part ways with it.

I will be getting a STi and finally be happy with a car that I can mod and obtain great gains while at the same time not spending a fortune to say I laid down what an Acura RSX can double with half the cash.

Nice, well it's sad to see a fellow 8 owner leaving. You did however post this in the wrong forum.

Meh....

Rx8 + Mazsport Type 1 + HKS TwinPower = ~38K for 350+ hp AT THE WHEELS
STI base = ~38K for ~290hp At the wheels.

Yah... you are making a great choice if you are really looking for speed. Not to mention you will have the honor of driving one of the ugliest cars on the road. enjoy.

LOL... Yeah true... I will enjoy the beauty of the 8 from my rear mirror.

Pretty sure I will be putting down more than 290. Getting a great deal, a friend of mine, his dad went to school with the owner of the dealer so I am getting the car just slightly above dealer cost.

sti's are neither $38K nor 290whp, but the point is taken.

sti's are good cars, but you should have done more research if that's the route you wanted to go. the 8 is balanced car, with a brand new (and exceptionally complicated) powertrain..of course it's going to be expensive to make powerful.

and FWIW, there is a cobb tuned STi with full turbo back exhaust in my garage. with just the greddy kit ($3000), interceptor-x ($1600), and a profec b ($300) i could pull on him anywhere above 20mph. this was only using 9psi on the shitty t618Z turbo.

I've always said when it comes to car....speed, low price, reliability and you can only pick two

I'm with you man. I just don't understand............is it really that serious to have a car that can go a little faster in a straight line?

The pros and cons here just don't even up to me. But its his money, so do what you please with it.

You made an odd choice for someone who seems so concerned with horsepower.

I mean, it's not like it isn't well known that the 8 (and most Mazdas) are short on power. Their cars tend to be all about handling and enjoyable dynamics rather than pure speed and lap times.

Eh, oh well, enjoy the STi.

I think it's a shame a lot of people buy this car thinking it's going to be a straight line monster. IMO the only things it lacks are reputable dealerships and gas efficiency.

I'm actually surprised a lot of people bought this car to be "king of the streets." Most reviews of this car say it's underpowered already...

That said, the STi is an awesome car. Pity it's so ugly. If looks and comfort aren't that important, the STi is really one of the best cars you can get for that price.

Yeah, because all RX-8 owners are so old and mature

Lastly, I'll care about what my car looks like when it makes it more fun to drive.
