Pontiac sold only 27,354 Azteks last year
ONLY? I can't believe they sold THAT MANY.

I thought Ford did a great job on the Thunderbird's appearance. It's not something I'd buy but I wonder why the target buyers aren't buying it.

yea was looking at the T-Birds on a Ford lot the other day....I think if they could have been priced about 10K less they would have been a much bigger hit. Hard to spend 40K on a Ford when the BMW and Porsche and Vette are in the same price range. I think that new Chevy convertible truck will be on this list next year.

hey, the RX2 is in there, but the Crossfire isn't?
Give it some time, the Crossfire just came out. I like the Crossfire but a 2 seater isn't on my short list. I wonder if the Mustang will be there too. I haven't seen one up close but the pics look way too heavy on retro.

I'm not a fan of the new T-bird... I'm glad they saw it for what it was. The Aztek... oh boy. I remember seeing the show car prototype think at the LA car show for that thing a couple years before it came out. It was a concept... I remember telling my friend that I couldn't imagine it ever making production. Imagine my surprise when I saw it on the streets.

i love how the slideshows last long enough to barely read half of the caption under each car.

why is the H1 on there? how is one of the most capable off-road production vehicles overhyped?

Because it is an incredible sales disaster - selling 150 per month in it's first 4 months on the market - no waiting lists for this baby. Once the initial demand (ha!) has died down it will get worse.

It doesn't help that a nicely equipped Audi A8 with the same engine and transmission but an all-aluminium body (weighing 800lbs less) and a luxury dealership and warranty behind it costs the same as a well equipped Phaeton V8. The Audi outsells the Phaeton 3:1.

That IS odd that VW built that extreme of a car when they already have a luxury counterpart (Audi)

the hummer H1 is on the list???

i had one, it is not over hyped..... women will screw you just for having it, and men will worship you.... and this is everywhere you go.... it's fun, gets more antention than anything else and people get the hell out of your way.... you get mad respect with it... plus driving it on the beach and offroad is a blast...

on the bad side, gas milage is shitty and maintanence is a bitch... but i wouldn't haver another car if i had to do it over...

if you have the money and are single, it is a must have.... plus you can get a used one like i did for a deal...

Not to mention the T-Bird has the detuned Lincoln Mark VIII engine.
Just like the GTO will have the detuned LS-1

I really like the Fiero. I almost bought an '86 GT as my first car. The only thing didn't like about them was the extremely boxy interior and the fact that the GT's (I believe) only came in automatic. Luckaly I ended up with an '84 RX-7 and I've been a die-hard rotorhead ever since.

You are right. It would have been better not to mention what you said because the T-Bird uses the Jaguar AJ-V8 whereas the Mark VIII used the Ford modular V8. Oh and the 350 hp GTO has the same power as the 350 hp LS1 engine in the Vette. How is that detuned?

The H1 would be a much better vehicle if GM would get off its *** and bin that crapass 6.5l unit. What a horrible, horrible diesel engine. It's especially bad when you realize that GM has an awesome diesel in the lineup now (Duramax) that they just won't put into the damn thing.

A gas powered hummer? Cripes.. you thought the '8 got poor mileage.. anything THAT big needs diesel.

The Hummer is an overhyped piece of trash. They look like oversized plastic tonka trucks, get 0 gas mileage, and handle about as well as a boat. Plus they are sloooooooow. They are not even a novelty anymore, there are so many out there. It gets attention because it is one of the ugliest eyesores on the road and a perfect example of how wasteful and superficial American culture is.

I respect the original Hummer (H1?) becuase it is the real deal as far as offroad vehicles go. And I may be misinformed here, but I recall reading somewhere that the H2 has a Chevy somethingerother (Suburban/Tahoe/etc) chassis and drivetrain. If that is the case, then the H2 is a $60K partsbin truck that is making Chevy a big profit on their marketing. In fact, isn't the H2 steering wheel the same as one of the Chevy trucks?

The H1 is the real deal. Our military uses it. It is not a Tonka truck. The H2 is an overpriced, overhyped POS for people with small dicks.

The H1 was designed for the military. It was never intended to be a civilian vehicle. It is one of the most capable 4wd vehicles ever mass produced. The H1 is a far cry from overhyped trash. It's existence has nothing to do with superficial American culture (since you said it was ugly I hardly see how you think it is a superfical creation in the first place). Low milage...I doubt the military really cares how good the milage is (they still have tanks and Bradleys to fuel as well). They get attention around here because they have 50 cal guns on the roof (guarding the Pentagon). The H1 is a utilty vehicle. The H2 is crap.

I was referring to the H2 as overhyped trash. Only an ******* would drive an H1 daily on the street but at least its doesn't suck like the H2. The H1 was (is?) a lot more expensive than the H2 as well, because as you put it so well "The H1 is a utility vehicle. The H2 is crap."

Diesels and wagons are big in Germany but never caught on in the US.
