yeah i think so. if you follow the link, there is a picture with some sort of cover. looks like *** so i'm glad they keep it like this for most of the shoot
I like the looks of the car, despite the color which is pretty horrible. The wheel covers are actually on both the rear wheels and the front. The front wheels have the covers drilled into them... Wheel covers are JDM or something I guess, but I think they look horrible, and thankfully Super Street asked RE's son to take off the covers before the shoot.
From what i hear , one of the guys here at my job is JDM crazy
and tells me that this is the next big fad in Japan. So you can expect that fad to be here rather soon.
I just don't get it, why blow alot of money on some great looking wheels then drill holes into them to cover them up with wheel covers?

And the sad thing , this fad is not new, professional motorsports has been doing this since the early 80's , especially on the IMSA GTP cars. The 787B actually ran disc on there wheels or would run disc wheels on high speed tracks such as Le mans. I can see them being used on a race car, but on a street car, it looks cheap and poser like.

If you look at the actual Super Street mag, I have a copy in front of me, the beautiful RX-7 is sporting wheel covers, the original poster forgot to give us a scan of the RX-7 with the wheel covers on.
And probably for good reason...hehehe
EDIT: Here ya go ,SS had a photo of it on there web site

HEHEHEH, I know...
The car is perfect , those stupid wheel covers make it go from Hero to Zero!
Nah i am joking, but the covers do thumb it down some.
I really like how they used Lotus elise lights into the design and that nose is drop dead sexy! Almost looks like that red RX-9 concept rendering.

That RX9 concept is amazing, I'd definitely buy that. I actually bought that issue of SuperStreet, and the car looks o much better in a magazine. And when you read the article it seems to make more sense. Basically, he took an aging car and made it look brand new, from the future even. I think it was a great job.
