official toyota "supra" FT-HS concept design

this is officially from toyota, not some photochop by some random magazine contract artist like everything we've seen before....
even if it does come out, chance of it being called "Supra" is not very likely imo.

heh if the price is around 50k id buy it comes 2010 , but i hate to get into that kinda speculations and get my hopes up etc. E92 M3 and GT-R is a different story cause we know its coming out, this thing is like 90% speculation.
i say no chance, at autoblogs anticipated 30k price tag, at least not a 400hp sports car with hybrid electric motor.

Well we KNOW it won't look exactly like that, but more of a realistic version of the concept. I wouldn't doubt Toyota to release a car like this by 2008. They really don't have a sports car right now, and I think it would be a great idea for them to just come out, '***** to the wall' with an new $50k sports car.

That thing has some pretty sexy lines, I really like the first shot that is looking down on the car. Hopefully the production model will stay close to the concept. 30k though!? Riight......

Personally I think its an insult to the Supra name!
One of the main reasons that Supra was so popular was the after market performance industry and its racing heritage. This car, based on the description, will never see a professional track day unless they can figure out a way to combine hybrid and gas technology in a race environment.
I dont know why I am so surprised. Toyota has completly abandoned there racing enthusiasts in the last couple of years and I am not surprised that they would continue that trend with the "New Supra".

Ok, that is fugly. Also, $30,000 price target. I don't think so. 400 hp, hybrid, carbon fiber and aluminum. More like $130,000. The Celica GTS was close to $30,000 and it was not that special.

I kinda like it. I see supra cues in it that i like. I am a big fan of that targa-esque roof. I think it will look very good when some of those sharp aggressive concepts aspects are gone. My guess is the production version will end up look pretty good, assuming there is one that is.

Oh hey...yet another proposal for a future Supra. Oh and this one will cost in the mid-30's with a 3.5 V6 and a hybrid drivetrain, even though the 350Z has a 3.5 and costs only slightly less than that.
Another rumor the article didn't mention: the nav system will come with X-box controllers, and will come pre-loaded with Duke Nukem Forever. And the car's MP3 player will come pre-loaded with a copy of Chinese Democracy too.
Well...they didn't want to break with tradition, I guess.

Yeah, after looking at it more, I really like the rear, and targa-esqe roof. This car may actually benefit from the concept to production changes as far as the front goes if that made any sense. It needs to be toned down.
