As the sun set on the final day of pre-season testing late on Sunday, the words on everyone's lips were Mercedes and Red Bull.
"Everyone is saying that this Mercedes is fast. Consistently fast," said respected Auto Motor und Sport correspondent Michael Schmidt.
Red Bull's Dr Helmut Marko added: "(It is fast) at least on one lap. But at least we do have to take them really seriously."

Mercedes is bidding to shed its "conservative" image, new director and team co-owner Toto Wolff has revealed.
He admitted that hiring 2008 world champion Hamilton, who is replacing the 44-year-old seven time world champion Schumacher, is a key factor.

Lewis Hamilton has described former McLaren team-mate and two-time World Champion Fernando Alonso as the fastest driver in Formula 1 ahead of the 2013 campaign, returning the favour after heavy praise from the Spaniard earlier this year.

anybody surprised the RB was sandbagging during testing...as usual, LOL!! ...Kind of worred about the McLaren boys?

I don't pay too much attention to speeds during practice. You don't need to give 100% to get the setup information for qualifying or the race. On the US broadcast, they reported that Ferrari is working with full fuel tanks, during practice, to get tire data. I'd leave bragging rights for qualifying and the race too.

....looks like Quali is goingto be VERY interesting!! I've got my DVR set for it, but I want to try to watch it live...don't know if i'mgoing to make it or not...i've been up since like 4:30 this morning....

GETER DONE!!!, hahah LOL...wait, I'm not in the NASCAR thread... Yeah man, you can't miss the first Quali of the year!!!!! BTW....anybody seen MAZMART??? I'm surprised he hasn't popped in? And FYI Paul...if you have comcast, it's channel 44...check me to be sure, but i'm 99% it's 44.

Just watched the Mazda 6 "Celebrity Race" yesterday and F1 P4.
Mazda has no more 'spare' 6's left as 2 have been total-ed (smacking the wall), both by so called celebrity "comedians", half of these so called 'Australian Celebrities and a UK Olympian (Chris Hoy) I have never heard of...like FFS '2 Comedians', they don't give a **** about the cars, Mazda and Mark Skaif (ex V8 Supercars) who was/is 'training them' said what ever you do don't smash the cars, they have to go through 3 events (Friday, Sat, Sun), so what happens first race, 2 gone.
As for F1, most of the top drivers were waiting for the track to rubber up, was late in the arvo before they came out and I did not see any...all I heard so far is Vet was fastest in P4.
The 1.6 V6 turbo's next year will be more interesting...talk of Honda back in 2015.
