Thus the reference to webber giving out in quali today :p

Now i'm going back to play in my sand box building castles, 'nite.
Agreed. Al is as close we get to an expert commentator with his experience.

The rest of us can analyze as much as we can but Al can usually come with a tidbit of insight that is really useful.

I will really really miss his posts.

Hamilton - wow. Just wow.
Webber's the star of the race for sure, but my favourite moment was seeing Massa finish ahead of Alonso!

I wonder what Webber could do if he really had his team behind him.

Nice thread you guys got going on here. It's nice to see other F1 fans discussing things. Does anyone know if there is another way to watch the races that air really early in the morning? Usually Speed Channel replays the early races during the afternoon, but they didn't do that this time. I work on Sundays so I can't stay up till 5am.

Yes, but he had his chance last year, perhaps he should drive into his team mate a few times.

Phenomenal recovery and drive by Webber to get onto the podium..now who was it who said he can't drive or overtake?...I smell cheese.

I suppose you are referring to me, so I will play along

How many cars did Webber pass during the race? On his first stint he went from pos 18 to 17 using the hard tires. The rest of the stints he had the perfectly fresh soft tires which helped A LOT.

He also had the best car, which also helped a lot. I mean passing mid-pack-runners with DRS, better car and fresher tires is not the hardest thing in the world.

Also he wasn't forced to pass too many due to excellent pit strategy so most of the race he had clean air to drive as fast as he wanted.

Webber drove on the three stop strategy while Vettel used the two stop. In hindsight we can tell that the three-stop was superior (Vettel would have won if he had used a three-stop). So its obvious now that Webber is Red Bull no #1 driver and that Vettel is being handed a bad deal by his team.

It must have been stressful for Vettel not being able to communicate with his engineer.

I don't know about you guys but I was a little sad for Button that he didn't get third. Of course driving up to the wrong pit crew was... something else. He still drove a good race though.

Finally an awesome race!!

Hi everyone,

Yes, I know I haven't posted in a while and was even ready to cancel SpeedVision. Nascar sucks and F1 was headed the same direction...

Them BOOM... all of a sudden we are hit with this awesome race!!

I found myself yelling "Go Hamilton .. Go".... He definitely deserved the win.

My Ferrari team is not doing that well... I know but it'll get better. I am patient.

Congrats Hamilton and Webber... and you too Alfy

Carlos
ps. Did you see Webber's grin on his face when he said, "Finally there is someone else at the top"? He could not keep his happiness

Here, Lewis gives a very good run down of what was involved in the Chinese race victory:

Heya Polo!

Nice to have you back again

Btw, what did you think of Massa? I think he is slowly starting to return to his old form. I think Alonso needs a counterweight and someone who can push him too.

Is the Texas GP in trouble?

The venue for the 2012 US Grand Prix at Austin was dealt a potential blow after the Texas State Senate's finance committee voted 10-4 to pull a $25 million package to assist the development of the under-construction Circuit of the Americas, local KXAN news reported.

"At a time when people are stressed about their schools, stressed about their jobs, stressed about health care and nursing homes, for us to check off $25 million for race cars, I think we make people say where are their priorities," senator Dan Patrick told the station. "That $25 million would pay for 500 teacher salaries. How can we explain to people we're spending that money on race cars?"

But the amendment is only to the senate version of the forthcoming state budget, not the version in the House of Representatives. The report concluded it was likely "most if not all of the incentives" would ultimately be restored.

If this goes down the drain then we know for certain that US and F1 doesn't go well together.

Did any of you guys see the BBC coverage of the race? Remember when Jake tried to interview Vettel right before the start of the race and he said he was trying to fix his drink tube with tape? Could it be that the drink tube might have been the culprit for his communication system failure? I wonder what is the likelihood of the water seeping out and soaking his microphone and shorting out the entire system? Is that even possible? Just thought I'd toss that idea out there to see what you guys might think. I don't know enough about electronics to tell if that is even a remotely possible cause. It cost Vettel very dearly.

Yes I did, I always try to watch the BBC coverage even after the midnight Speed coverage lol. It's just... better.... Eitherway, yes and no. They still could've used the pit board to communicate with him. Then again, it's 1 way communication, o well.

Vettel could hear over the radio I believe. So they could give him instructions. He just could not give any feedback.

At least thats how I understood it.

Thanks man :D I loveeeee it lol...
here's some more.

While most places quoted me $500-600 bucks to paint a helmet, I got this for 1/3rd of the price, yes it's not perfect, but I'm really happy and got what I paid for.

Dude, that is one badass helmet! Is it the same brand that Lewis wears? Either way, it looks way cool!
