Noice Focus.

Yes, mock me. i'm still buying a zx3 focus, but look at this pic and deny it's potential beauty.

PaulieWalnuts 05-14-2004 11:04 AM

For an econobox, it looks nice.

Formula 420 05-14-2004 11:17 AM

and for *only* 20K i can install a 5 Litre Kugel Komponents V8 engine that leaves room for a twin turbo. aall with the weight of a focus.

that's a potential 1000hp focus!!!!! the engine swap alone is proved to afford me an extra 110 mph.

don't believe me? look

Formula 420 05-14-2004 11:18 AM

i'm not sure but i believe it also modify's the front wheel drive proble.

PaulieWalnuts 05-14-2004 11:25 AM

And then you have a very fast... uhhhh, entry level economy car.

Lufa 05-14-2004 11:27 AM

How much did that paint job run you?

StealthTL 05-14-2004 11:30 AM

Potential?

What has potential got to do with it?

Are YOU going to put that engine in? I think not.

My old Festiva 'potentially' could have a jet engine and afterburner, and 'potentially' could fly, with the Wing Kit......

I don't get it.

S

Formula 420 05-14-2004 11:32 AM

i DO have money.
and I WILL drop the v8 in it. ---at least
i love projects.

AND IT's NOT MY PAINT JOB!

PaulieWalnuts 05-14-2004 11:36 AM

A V-8? With that much weight in the front wouldn't that thing flip over when you slam on the brakes?

Formula 420 05-14-2004 11:38 AM

http://www.kugelkomponents.com/focus/focus.html
nope. look

it's perfect, almost no weight difference. with the 4wd conv
it's balanced at like 60/40

PaulieWalnuts 05-14-2004 11:41 AM

Hey Formula 420, what is the fascination with a cheap car that is fast? I did the cheap/fast thing when I was younger because I was broke. But why dump $40K+ into an economy car?

Formula 420 05-14-2004 02:12 PM

1. work at ford.
2. love the rally feel.
3. i actually like the car.

wakeech 05-14-2004 02:27 PM

the rally feel?? haha, bring over one of those magnificent RS Focus(es? right?) from continental europe... WAY BETTER CAR than a V8 conversion Focus... no contest, in my mind. then you actually DO get a rally feel, with super techno gearbox, AWD, lots of delicious Cosworth power.

the weight distribution doesn't change much 'cuase you're swapping a smallish 5.0L for both the 2.0L and transmission, but that doesn't mean 60f/40r is good. really man, if you're looking to get an ultimate focus (i drove one when i was learning to drive, i like them too), go for the euro RS ones. :D

pidge1114 05-14-2004 02:44 PM

I don't get it. you decided against an RX8 because you could get a "discount" at Ford for a Focus...

but then you are willing to dump 40 GRAND into it? Huh? I understand liking a car and wanting to improve it, but that is just ridiculous.

Enjoy your Focus.

Formula 420 05-14-2004 02:47 PM

the rs looks sweet. but so does the new SVT for 2005ish

wakeech 05-14-2004 03:01 PM

won't that be the same car??

i'm just saying, get one of "those" (the STi and Evo killing Focusses) instead of a V8 conversion one.

Formula 420 05-14-2004 03:04 PM

working with cars is fun.

how hard is it for people to understand why i don't want to buy a sick car, i want to make a sick car.

Gigolo Jason 05-14-2004 03:07 PM

No matter what you do to it at the end of the day you will still have a fucus.

Ike 05-14-2004 07:44 PM

So for 20k in mods you'll get a 110mph 1/4 mile trap, that's really not all that impressive. It's NOT an extra 110mph... Plus, if you like the rally feel you get a 4 cylinder turbo, not a V8. Lastly you seem to be under the impression you can just get ythe crate motor and everything will be just grand. That's not the case, you will need a lot of money in supporting mods. For about 3000k in mods you can get a WRX to run 12s and trap 115mph+ and you can get a 02 WRX for around 16k which makes the purchase price of the car with mods less than it would be for just the mods on the focus.

PaulieWalnuts 05-14-2004 10:47 PM

Okay, I somewhat get it. You work for Ford, so that means you can get a massive plan discount. On a Ford as well as a Mazda. But since Mazda doesn't make a rally car, you want a Focus. Still, $40K for a rally car that you make? I get the impression a WRX out of the box at $30K will come close and with $10K in mods will crush you.

Formula 420 05-14-2004 11:22 PM

oh well, then i get crushed, i'll still love my car.

Formula 420 05-14-2004 11:23 PM

and ike, in looking into it i am aware of most of the hidden costs. your price tag is too low

Ike 05-14-2004 11:37 PM

What do you mean my pricetag is too low, are you saying the mods will cost more than 20k for the focus?

Formula 420 05-14-2004 11:59 PM
