I didn't watch any of the vids yet to see if they mention this, but the current Nissan Skyline is sold in the US as the Infiniti G35 Coupe. If you keep that in mind, especially since the highly anticipated redesigned 08 G35 Coupe is due to market soon, I would expect this GT-R to be marketed as an Infiniti. Makes sense with the price tag as well.
This should set the stage for some high performance luxury cars..especially with companies like Lexus getting into the high-perf market as well with the IS-F prod and LF-A concept.
hahaha yea I jsut read that elsewhere, saying they are not referring to it as a skyline!
I never showed any interest in it until i came across this post, so thanks for the quick heads up!
(Ever see that ESPN commercial where the guy talks sports out of his a$$...thats about where I am at with this GTR thread
)
EDIT: and oh yeah, for what its worth, I still think they would have better luck selling it as an Infiniti

The Edmund's team reports that the turbo all-wheel-drive Nissan was unofficially clocked as running within tenths of a second of the 997 Turbo Porsche the group had brought along for comparison.

Well... I can probably say this. It's in Michigan now. It's Auto Show debut is coming in the near future. I haven't heard it myself, but a co-worker said it sounded totally badass...
On a somewhat related note... keep an eye out for the G35 coupe debut...

couple rumors...
http://www.bajafresh.com/locations/l...sp?storeid=173
-its reportedly closer to 500hp than 450hp which makes sense considering that it has been observed to out accelerate the 911 turbo in the straights
-a nissan engineer slipped and called it an infiniti
-there could be a V8 version still.. as observed when a test mule broke down in CA

well... from the "it sounded badass" comments I've heard from people who've seen it running in person... it makes me think that it's a V8.
As far as the breakdown goes... it could have been a bad camshaft that broke.
lol damn did i post a bajafresh link lol i was looking it up to go there for lunch today. the real link is here

There are no new details about the car’s mechanical package. Only that it will feature a high-performance turbo V6 engine developing between 450 and 500hp. The new GT-R also drops a conventional manual set-up in favor of paddle-shifters located behind the steering wheel.
no stick.. no fun... and also lets hope one can disable the DSC completely on the GTR!
I cant wait to see it hit the roads tho. lets hope it lives up to the hype too lol...
if its V8 and auto(seq box, DSG.. watever) only.. it'd be.. quite disappointing, even if appeals to more people.
