new mustang shelby GT (not the gt500)

http://www.autoblog.com/2006/08/09/f...y-gt-unveiled/
"Now you don't have to go to a Hertz car rental just to pilot the best Mustang on the planet -- you can actually buy it. Observe the 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT, the car that, until now, was only available as the Ford Mustang Shelby GT-H, the black and gold pony exclusively rented out at your local Hertz Rent-a-Car.

On a tip from our buddies at Winding Road, Ford's grand pumbah of the Americas, Mark Fields, will unveil the second-wildest steed in the Ford stable for the 2007 model year later today. For those uninterested in picking up such the 325 hp beast with automatic transmission (available only as such where the GT-H is concerned), the Shelby GT will come with available manual transmission, as well as in different color schemes: black or white with silver stripes.

Ford's Flat Rock, Mich. plant will churn out 10,000 at most, according to the Associated Press. "

not to bad, here's the upgrades over a stock GT:
Power Upgrade Package...$889
Handling Package...$1,149
Race Rear Brake Pads x2...$410
Performance X-Pipe...$139

plus for some reason i like the name, mainly a sales pitch but it does "sound" better than just mustang gt. i'm not to certain what the power upgrade package contains but we can all assume better front breathing and more aggressive electronics with only a $900 price.

I like the looks better too.

the handling pack and power pack are already available through ford racing parts. There are also other performance parts available and a twin-screw S/C on the way as well.

Nice. Someone at work said there was a Mustang coming out that wasn't the GT500. He normally doesn't know what he is talking about, so I paid him no mind. I'll give him a cookie for being right for once.

these will be done like the hertz model as well if im no tmistaken- shipped over to Shelby's place in vegas for the upgrades so they are Actually Shelby Mustang's. to me thats better than a GT500. of course they shoyuld let them use the GT350 moniker but Ford is apparantly holding on to that for "future use"

The pic in MT looks better, and did you hear...in 2008 the Mustang is going to get a pretty serious revisions of it's sheetmetal. They say it will look less retro...more modern, maybe it will look more like the concept....let's hope!

You never know, maybe they will fix the *** that never ends....lol.

i agree with you on the rear of the car, it looks as if they tried and tried to find a design that "looks" the part but instead had to comform to safety measures with the bumper. A more aggressive fastback design would look great.

Heh, before my hard drive crashed, I had done a photoshop of the concept mustang morphing into the production car. The front end and hoodline were pretty similar, but the roof grew a couple inches taller, and the back of the car seemingly gained about a foot. Other car companies don't have a problem building cars with little overhang, so I assume this was done to please the V6 crowd and make the car slightly more practical. Bleh.

Praticality is overrated. Just like good fuel economy. Only hippies care about fuel economy. Everyone else says "oh well, its a sports car, whadya expect?"

They want 10 grand over sticker price.

Bunch of extortionist.

And extra $10k?! So you mean this is like $35k-37k?! Shiiit... not interested at that price. And if the Mustang is going to get a heavy sheetmetal facelift in 2008... I'd wait for that over getting the current one... unless someone was offering the deal of the century on one.

If 'ol shel could put the horsie on a diet it would be better. It's a heavy car as it is.

True about the M3. But this is the real M3 in my book:
