Ok. I still have not tested an RX8 automatic. But I was able to test the new 2005 Mercedes C230 Kompressor, which Mercedes claims to do 0-60 in 7.5 seconds.

I was actually impressed with the new 189 hp Mercedes 230 because it was only a 4 cylinder engine and it felt like a V6 in so many ways (except during 2nd gear). Now, I'm not sure of any of you have tested the 2005 Mercedes C230 and compared it with the RX8 Auto. if you do, please give me some feedback. Thanks.

 

The C230 Kompressor will be right along with the auto RX8 as far as accel test go. The C230 cannot do 0-60 in 7.5 sec; in auto trim it takes a second more to get to 60. Even in stick shift trim that is a little optomistic. Are you talking about the C230 Coupe/hatch or the sedan? The RX8 outhandles the Benz; I'm not impressed with the C230--the hatch is hideous.

Both are great cars. Both are sporty, but the RX8 is my persnal favirot. For long trips, and comfort the C230K wins, but other than that the RX8 is a king. But I am speaking about to manual cars, I am not sure how the automatics compare. Please see the following thread for pictures and discussion

I test drove both the C230 coupe and the RX-8, and the 8 was better in every category, including interior quality. These were both manual, though. If you need to get an auto trans, the auto RX-8 is switching to the high-power motor next year I think, so I would wait for that one.
