using hydrogen will eliminate flooding =D

but in theory, DI should give a good boost in fuel economy for the rx-8. it is a good addition to the turbo motor, the speed3 and 6 gets decent mileage in city driving from what i read.

2.5L I-4 and 3.5L V6... maybe DISI. Mazaspeed 6...likely 3.5L DISI Turbo... due around MY2009.

i wonder where the mazda9 rumors came from... and how come its not on here!!, i like the sketch of the yellow 6.... its very curvy, and looks like an rx-8, elegant yet kinda agressive, but it probably wont look like that

A Mazda 9 is a nice pipe dream. Too bad they never did anything more with the Millenia line.

Its was a fantastic car with the Miller Cycle Engine, journalist here loved it, and rated the car with BMW and Merc, but, Mazda Australia did little to promote the car, and the biggest issue again was price...like the FD...around $80K AU!,
so you are basically competing directly with Europe's best..even though the Millenia had more options.

IMO one of the best Mazda's EVER made.

It was well loved by journalists when it came out here in the US, but they made very few improvements through its lifecycle and was outdated, outpowered, and overpriced by the time it went adios.

Sounds a bit like the RX8 sadly.

Well I'm very concerned about the Mazda 6. I plan on buying one once the Buick dies.

But now the enlarged version. Don't know don't need it.

And you can't beet Toyota by along shot. The interior is now where near as comfortable. Mazda will loose all the time.

And why would the RX8 hit a tax guzzling tax?

It's rated 18/20 right?

Mazda's interiors are much better than Toyota's at the moment. I hear Toyota quality is not as good as they used to be.

Toyotas sell on reputation and not because of driving quality.

The problem is that Mazda doesn't have that inflated reputation so they have to work harder for sales.

I hope the 6 doesn't bloat like the VW Jetta, but a bit larger here and there won't hurt things, IMHO. The CX-9 is heavy, but it still seems to handle well and Mazda 2 is a bantam weight. I think Mazda engineers are a smart bunch.

What then is this TAX definition/criteria to be called a gas guzzler...

16 MPG or below at a constant 40 MPH, @ 2500 RPM, 30 PSI Tire Pressure, @ a Horizontal plain sealed Roads with an ambient temperature of 28 degrees Celsius, zero cross winds, head or tail wind not to exceed 2 knots, driver @ 78 Kilos or 170 Pounds, gas octane of 91, OH! and a valet clean interior and exterior.

Have I forgotten something...
May be synthetic lubricant only!!!

I get great comments on the interior of my 6 all the time. Very well laid out and very modern. Lets hope they keep the handling though without having the car get to large.

Think CX-7 and CX-9 to get a feel for what the new 6 interior will look like.

Wasn't thrilled by the CX-7's interior when I test drove it several months ago. Good quality but didn't like the double-dash with the setback clock. But nice overall.

Yeah, but, Mazda almost always has a show stopper or a new release, perhaps they will just show the new 6 to the Japanese Public and the 2 or the first time..

We all know that the 8 will remain as it is...well that's what Mazda Canada are telling their dealers...

Too weird and econocar for the new 6. The new 6 will have to come with some woodgrain, metallic accents or some other artificial shiny expectation.

the new mazda2 and the mx-5 is where to look for hints of the new 6 interior it willl not look the same, it will be more up-scale, it was like this with the old demio

And the new mazda6 interior will be the basis for the next RX-8 interior

Well the car is still looking pretty good, but the back end just looks huge to me. I know the back window of my 6 is hard to see out of.

I imagine it will now need back up sensors so idiots don't run over their kids.

no the oddly shaped concept cars are done for now- no more until whatever they show at Tokyo- which hopefully wont be "weirdly shaped" .

see there has been a time trend to each concept. the First - Nagare- was the farthest from possible production20 or more years away. the next- Ryuga- was something closer something you could see in less then 20 years possibly 10 years. Hakaze was even closer- something you could see in about 5 years.

now that last one in Tokyo? how about something that will hit the road in 2 years or less?
