Toyota takes another hit. They need to bring back the Celica and Supra, and get some new designers.

 

It's like the Corolla married a Civic Si or something.

They started making the Corolla too heavy, I assume for the needed space for larger people in th U.S. market. I say this because often I see big people crammed in older Tercels and Corollas. Their consumers can now afford cheap large trucks and SUVs so I can see why they're having problems.

 

Toyota styling really sucks. Too conservative. They are not putting anything out there that is dynamic or fun.

 

Looks to me like Toyota is appropriating more effort to building the Lexus brand, while the Toyota branded vehicles are left to languish in the desert.

and in taiwan, the altis is something like a rockstar, at the taipei auto show it had tons of (what's equivalent to) booth babes and the thing comes with leather interior and wood-panel trimming!

i hate this car.

 

This Corolla is another mini-me Camry. Bland bland bland and bland. It is certainly not going to take away any sales from people looking at the more interesting Mazda 3, Honda Civic, and VW Rabbit. I'd say the new Saturn (Opel) Astra will kill the new Corolla in terms of driving dynamics and looks as well. If someone pointed a gun at my head and told me I had to get a compact Toyota, I'd look at the xB, xD or Matrix. Not the Snoreolla. C&D gave it a short initial thumbs down as well. I predict more bad press.
