new 2006 Mazda Miata Pics

It resembles the other pics that had a sudo RX8 front end to it. I like the look of this personally, better wheels would be ncie but this is a mule I'm sure.

Looks good.

I wonder if Mazda is going to trickle down the look of the RX-8 onto all its cars.

What if a 3rd gen. and an RX-8 had sex with each other?

Gotta love that royal purple. :D

Can't really tell too much, but the front end needs more of a slope to it.

That is not just any mule. Look at the roll over bars, door handle and windshield frame, side view mirrors etc. What ever it is it's damn close to production.

Can someone please step in and correct me that they are NOT using the styling cues from our car, on the next gen Miata.

they're using the styling cues from the RX8 on every mazda, can't find one of em that doesnt steal some aesthetic piece of beauty from the RX8, 6 has the same interior display, the 3 has the same steering wheel, they all have the same headlights and tailights, even the MPV.

I feel like the exclusivity of our 8 is no longer "special".

Yeah, it does "cheapen" the look of the car quite a bit. Fortunately nothing else on the market really out-does it right now in terms of design.

Don't forget the look of the Mazda Axela (Mazda 3). Sometimes I could swear it was an RX-8 on the road.

Trickle-down effect guys.

I will - they're NOT using RX-8 styling cues on the NC Miata. Aside from perhaps corporate looking headlights (they came on the Mazda6 first, so they're not RX-8 cues), there will be extremely little resemblance. There's nothing in common at the back of the car, and the front fenders and hood are not at all similar. Aside from having the engine compartment intake below the bumper (which the Miata has always had, first oval shaped, then the Mazda 5 point opening in 2001, before the RX-8), although the shape of the opening on the NC will be different.

That prototype in the pictures is the real deal, the NC, the 2006 MX-5. It's body panels were pressed on the production fender dies.

Regards,
Gordon

If the 06 Miata looks like the rx8 in any way, I may trade in rx8 for it in late 2006. The rx8 was my daily driver, but now it's my fun summer car. I always liked the miata, and depending how it turns out, I'll be there.

Man, I can't tell anything from those photos. Seems like they kept it pretty well disquised to me.

gord you have any idea of the time between the pics of your white test mule and these pics? they've been leaked only about a month apart but is that the real time difference? that seems pretty quick to be going from test mule to production stampings. unless they are parralel developments?

OOH ****....now that's hot. The front end of an rx8, and the roofline and rear fenders of an rx7...I'd trade my Z in for that if it had a turbo renesis anyday.
