least they wrote the guy a letter but depending on where he live, I guess he has to hope people don't start complaining to HOA, City, police, etc...

If the car is loud enough to be heard from lightyears away, then yea, it is too loud and stupid. I personally hate that ****.

It might be different coming from someone who is into cars, but that exhaust didn't sound obnoxiously loud. It could definitely be loud if he drives aggressively, but it's generally a good idea to not do that in neighborhoods anyways.

Unless the exhaust was actually too loud, I would leave the exhaust alone and make an effort to drive as quietly as possible in the neighborhood. Like someone mentioned in that thread, there's a good chance it's one person that's annoyed and decided to speak for the whole neighborhood. That person might have talked to other neighbors who agreed it was loud, but that doesn't mean they were bothered by it. I wouldn't really do anything out of my way (like replacing the exhaust) unless I had a decent idea of how many neighbors were actually bothered. If it was more than just 1 or 2, then it would be a good idea to try and find a solution to the problem. There are always going to be some neighbors that will complain about any little noise made in the neighborhood. You could drive an electric car and they'd still complain about exhaust noise.

I bet my neighbors love us Not that I give a ****, if people started complaining I would complain about every single code violation in the neighborhood. Those people should be careful, it's a slippery slope. I mean really how annoying could it be, does the guy drive back and forth all day?

Sounds to me like a bunch of ******** with nothing better to do.

My neighbors compliment me all the time about the way my car sounds. I guess he's just surrounded by a-holes.

Had about the same thing happen to me *Not really, kinda....sorta*

Driving down the road to my house, this old lady jumps out in front of me waving her arms. Now, I've noticed her give me the stink eye every time I drive by her. I just assumed she's some old bat that hates fancy cars with a louder than nothing exhaust (I'm just running a RB Cat back....)

Anyway, she comes up, leans on my car *Rage is coming...* and she's like 'you really need to slow down on these roads. Kids and animals are around.' Now, the logical thing to say would be 'Keep an eye on the kids, and pets should be on a leash in the yard', but I was too dumbfounded by her civilian police action.

Me: 'Ma'am, I go 25 through here...' *In reality, it's 25-30, hardly a difference some old lady can tell.*.
Her: 'No you don't' *This put me into a blind rage.....I knew if I kept up with her, I'd either run her feet over or door check her....*
Me: Well, I'm sorry. I'm leaving now.

So I just take a different road home. I spend an extra 10 seconds or so, but at least I don't have to deal with the old bag.....I really wish I would have had a clear enough mind to tell her what I wanted...

As long as his muffler is within all local laws limits, there is nothing to worry about.

sometimes its just annoying to get "srrroommmMmmmmMm" you up @ 7 am on a Sunday morning.

My neighbor bitxhed about this house behind us, they love to hire mexicans to "blow" the leafs off 6 days a week, sometimes 7. Its annoying as hell but I usually just shut the windows off (cuz its sound proof) My Neighbor went over and bitch, now they do it some time after 9:30.

if they do it only on weekdays I am perfectly fine. but hey, someone did the hard work for me I'm happy.

I have a street where drunks throw beer bottles, the RX8 brakes made them miss my wind shield by inches...
I saw the bottle in the air and hit the brakes, my car stopped instantly from 20 Mph, the bottle sails on by..

/a cop lives next door to the drunks, and does not seem to have a problem with this...

I like the idea of having a meet to perpetuate the situation.

I had this happen. My neighbors called on me. I didn't change anything. I spoke to each of them and I told my next door neighbor that I'm gonna call the cops on their barking dogs, and I started snatching every cat that came on my yard and brought them all to the humane society, then politely told them where they can pick up their cats. It's been five years now and no problems, except cats always on my property. They have to put up with it because so many more car guys moved in around me.
My other neighbours are super cool sporting a jag e-type (loud), tr8 (loud), sunbeam tiger (loud), honda 2k (loud), ducati monster (loud), viper (loud), '82 trans am (loud), and a obnoxiously loud turbo hyabusa. I'm just one of them now.
I wonder what their perception is on the garbage trucks, street sweepers, thunder and anything else that they can be bothered by.

Some of the Harley Davidson's that cruise past my house are epic loud.
I've never heard a single street car as loud as those bikes.

I was sort of one of those douches that called the cops on my neighbors... Haha not without good reason though. We were having a hell of a time getting our daughter to sleep. When she finally did, it seemed every time one of the neighbors would pretty much drag race their quads up and down our street. Even with the windows closed, it was ridiculously loud. Every day they would do this, always at random times.

It's a small neighborhood, and there are a lot of kids on the street. So them running up and down was a danger, not to mention just stupid loud. A lot of people have loud trucks here, and they are sort of annoying (not a fan of trucks, but whatever), but those quads were super loud, not to mention illegal to drive on the street. But yeah, they haven't been driving the quads on the street anymore... Which is nice.

And yes, people should be watching their kids if they are outside, but sometimes stuff happens. My kids know to stay away from the street, but you just never know. Better to be safe right? I don't mind modded cars if people don't drive them like douches. After all, they aren't all that loud unless you stomp on them.

my neighbors in my apartment complex don't seem to mind me. The old man above us thinks it sounds "serious." He's a cool old dude. I'm not the loudest though. There's a riced out, hole in the exhaust accord and a guy with a harley that i can here start in his garage 1/4 mile up the hill.

If i was in this situation, I'd make sure I was legal and tell them to pound sand.

I'd keep taking the same road...and next time you drive through there, leave it in 1st and wind it all the way up to 9,000.. The old bag will love that.

This reminds me of the time i had my 1st 8 with RB header, AP midpipe and the HKS single this setup was EXTREMELY LOUD no matter how i drive its always loud. I live on a 1 way street which have 2 4 story buildings opposite each other that stretch the whole block -- these buildings have windows facing the street so when i drive down the block the sound echos off the walls and it sounds even louder so the neighbors hate me and i always catch them @ the windows when i drive by to looking for parking.

Well one day i was walking to my car and i notice a note on my windeld....it basically said to **** off with my loud *** car and to remove the sound or they are gonna destroy it.

Everyday after i got that note i raced down my block just to **** off whoever wrote that note until i got into an unrelated accident. I knew they werent gonna do anything there's 2 many people that would see.
