N/A FD @ Tsukuba !!! + Se3p
Hey 8Club!
Inspired by the new REW vs Renesis thread that got started. Running sub 60 sec at Tsukuba is impressive and held as a bench mark for many years, doing it N/A is something else completely. Amazing lap time. Se3p below is fast in its' own right as well.

Me too!!! NA rotary is very special imo
When I was a young man I would literally buy out everything RX7 related that Mitsuwa market had in San Jose. I used to own nearly every time attack and rotary Option video.
If anyone can find the boosted SuperG, please feel free to post. My point is to demonstrate how far 'performance' has come in 20 years.

The difference between Japanese builds vs 'other' is staggering imo. Again I can't wrap my head around why views are so low on these amazing videos exhibiting real deal jdm machines. The Hardrace EG is one crazy little box! I feel nearly every usdm build aims to be 'king of the 18 year olds' ripping around illegally on the streets for the internet. Sad to say, worse to see.
ps- Wow the OS-FR7 is a quality piece; definitely a part that has peaked my interest recently.

I think I mentioned it before, but at least for the newer stuff, Japanese have largely moved to tinkering with German cars.

Oh yeah the Mazzei FD is a top-notch US build for sure! Tons of thought, time and effort were poured into his car and the final product certainly reflects this imo. Crazy it's up for sale on ebay now. Sad to hear the owner has decided to let it go, hopefully onto greener pastures. Definitely well worth the price too imo. Bet the Toyo tire sponsorship was nice.
I personally much prefer the jdm approach to modifying as the 'performance' achieved from the 'Shark' or 'Y's Produce' FD is more aligned with genuine 'rotary spirit' imo.

never give up
They're pretty serious in Australia with their billet monsters.
Also this story was posted in rx7club, I believe it fits the rotary spirit.

Speaking of JGTC!!! Here's an old RE prepped GT300 FD. You'll eventually see that same 3rotor FD from the vid above.
Exceptionally awesome racing everywhere but here... Too bad all we get stuck with is enthusiasts like Dahm, etc. There's some decent work produced but I believe misses the point of what was intended entirely imo. I'm hoping Rob does a salt flat top speed run. I figure he can easily set the highest top speed in a mazda / rotary ever. I'd def be excited for that and consider it a huge accomplishment. As opposed to just hoonin' around like the majority of these types do.
Super duper jdm sad face

Another super sweet build from another land. The difference is beyond crystal clear; literally no comparison anywhere stateside by far imo. What I see is very high level adult club motorsporting events vs little boys driving recklessly on American streets, then posting to the internet for clout. We're more concerned about being 'King of the 18 y/o's' at 'cars and coffee' meets and the hype they generate for every other little auto business selling t-shirts and bs parts.

Ha, no not really. I don't use social media and the only places I exist online are a few forums here and there. I also think you'd need to see some pics / vids for that to be valid but I don't really do any of that. I'm more of a buy local, support small business, tip your server and all that jazz kind of person.

I do find it ever increasingly odd that you care so much about what I think of cars. They're inanimate objects and only possess the value we impose upon them. I approach vehicles as more of a commodity and I do not particularly consider them as assets / investments (depreciating assets if anything). It is also worth making note that every vehicle I shared appears to be either owned, sponsored or affiliated with a business, etc so you're not exactly standing up for any 'little guys' here either. And at the end of the day nobody cares what I think.
I've been lucky in this hobby to have several projects over the years and in doing so, learned it's not only best to build 'out of pocket' but also to minimize the amount of 'personal' investment I put into it / them. This then allows me to approach things from a place of very minor personal investment (other than monetary and the amount of amusement I've invested) and if / when the time comes, I'll be more than happy to walk away from any frivolous object for the sake of the environment. You can literally hold me to that, I'm 100% serious. Anyways, I believe the primary objective for any vehicle is to perform a beneficial function. Man created machine to help aid in, or to perform the functions of man. Beyond that of performing a meaningful function, to me, the majority of their meaning is lost.
I myself have found profound meaning in the study of music and I believe that all peoples of all ages benefit greatly from learning some degree of musical comprehension. Many scholars would actually lead you to believe that music is the highest art form because it can communicate its' message the deepest and fastest to the observer.
Here's an excerpt from 'Music and the Mind' by Anthony Storr - The Innermost Nature of the World
'Symphonic music in the hands of the great masters truly and fully embodies the otherwise unperceived unsavored inner flow of life. In listening to such music we are as though entire again, despite all the insecurity, incoherence, incompleteness and relativity of our everyday life. The miracle is achieved by submitting to the power of its' organized flow; a submission which gives us a special pleasure and finally enriches us. The pleasure and the enrichment arise from the fact the the flow is not merely the flow of the music itself, but a significant image of the inner flow of life. Artifice of all kinds is necessary to the musical composition in order that it shall become such an image. Yet when the perfect performance and occasion allow us a truly immediate apprehension of the inner flow 'behind' the music, the artifice is momentarily of no consequence, we are no longer aware of it.'

Soli Deo Gloria
'the aim and final reason of all music is none else but The Glory of God.' - J.S. Bach
Wonderful program on arguably the greatest musician to ever live.
When extreme youth meets extreme age. Where talent, skill, imagination and creativity align in harmony.
Yes we are a silly nation. Cars are meaningless, tell yourself otherwise.

Something triggered my memory of this gentleman and his experience in relation to the point I've been making. Parts of his story resonate deeply with me, especially on how there comes a point where you need to shift your outlook on life. An excellent testimonial and well worth the watch.
