My New Daily Driver

So it started out by me going to mazda in houston to check out the R3. I ended up walking out with a Mazda 3 GT. going to start keeping the miles low on the 8. any how Metropolitan Grey 3. just got done washing and waxing the car. thought i post pics of it.

I was thinknig of lowering it, but then i thought that is why i have my 8. so i firgured ill just keep this one at stock lvl. love floating feel to it. butill be tinting it this week.

So you bought a 20,000 dollar car to keep the miles low on a 30,000 dollar car? that makes perfect sense....

well let see,
1. rx8 is about to be paid off, only 4 more payments to go.
2. I am keeping the rx8 , it would be only stupid of me to trade in the 8 after i spent 30k to only get 11k trade in.
3. i drive about 50 miles roundtrip each day. im at 60k on my 8. since i want to keep the 8 till it gets destoyed (moving the US i had to give up my FC, i sure the hell wont give up my 8) also i need a new car for my daily activies.
4. expecting a child , so i want a car that i feel comfortable. with out spending alot on.
5. Why shuld i care if it doenst make sense to you.
6. I didnt know i was stuppose to give you list of my reasons for buying this car.
7. I give you a middle finger salute for a job well done. but jokes aside, family guy is on.
8. Peter Griffin finds out his real father lives in Ireland
9. Good luck peter griffin
10. Why do you care how i spend my money, now that doesnt make any sense to me

who said his reason was purely economically driven? I must have missed the part where he said "I got a new daily driver to keep the miles on the 8 low because I want to save a lot of money that way". I better go back and read his post again.

edit: odd... I just checked and could not find where he said that...

Nice choice. My wife and I bought a 5-door 3 for the same reason. You'll find though that the rear facing car seat will be a little uncomfortable for a taller person (or one American sized person such as myself) to sit in front of. However it worked well for my wife and I because she is significantly smaller than I am so I do most of the driving . again grats.

thanks. as for interior i shall post later on this evening. only problem i had was the console with head lights turned on. since i am color blind, it was very hard for me to read to see how fast i was going (red numbers on blue back ground). but i figured a way to keep the back ground black instead of blue .

ty for the heads up mrthunder. also its pretty funny, i orginally wanted a 5 door in the same color. they had about 6 of them in 5 door, but all of them was in auto . in 4 door, they had about 10 of them, only 1 was MT. So i ended up taking her

I found out a cool feature with the Zenon headlights. there is a *** where i can raise or lower the postion of them. on my way hom taht night, i kept on playing with them, my other half was getting very annoyed with me. i guess she doenst understand how guys like to play with their new toys lol.

Hey man, nice buy! Me and you were in the same boat.... 100 mile round trip for me on the daily. 3 years later , 88k miles on my RX-8, she runs great , look great and is still tight.

Like you , I am keeping my 8, and putting all the miles on my Acura Integra now.

Another convert to the "8 as a weekend fun car" mindset. Welcome, Alfy, and good choice on the DD!

I bought my 8 as a weekend car only. Had it a year and a half now, and have 7,600 miles on it. We have an Explorer and a Forester as daily drivers. Thinking about getting a Mazda 3 next spring.

oh btw your acura looks nice btw. but yah i wanted to get me another 94-97 miata for a dd, but for other reasons stoped that. but yah keeping the 8, right now its the bodyshop getting the dents and scratches made by hurricane ike.

sad thing is on t he night before i took my car to the bodyshop, the check engine light came on while my other half was using the car visting her sister. Stuckvalve error popped up, loss of power in 5th and 6th gear . i havent been able to do engine clean to see if it fixes the problem since the next day i had to take my car for body work. also when you drive in first gear and let off the gas, it makes a hollow noise (might be a exhaust leak ). so looks like if the carbon cleaner doesnt work, then i guess next step will be engine replacment .

but with all that, i wont be giving up my 8. thing i regret alot is giving up my FC to move to the states for school. i know i will never get another FC, unless i move back to okinawa. but i dotn see that happening because my other half doesnt want to move away from the US. so the 8 will be that car to fill up that space lol. but in the future ill get me another miata( 94-97 for lsd reasons), probably the best car i have driven for both drifting and spirted driving.

the funny thing, me and my friends (back in okinawa) always made fun of ppl who owned Miatas for drifting. but after owning one here in the US, i can see why they owned one over a AE86, Toyota Carina. if i could of done my first drifting car over again, i would of pick a Miata over a AE86. but then again, truenos and levins (i owned a trueno, i love flip up lights) where way alot cheaper then a miata back in 92

Good choice Alfy, I too bought a 3 to keep miles off the RX-8, though mine was an used 2006. There are some things in life that are near and dear to you and sometimes the decisions you make aren't driven by pure logic. For myself, I know that I essentially paid $13k to buy a car to keep miles off another car that by now is probably worth close to $13k and will be depreciating faster. Nonetheless, the RX-8 is my fun car and I don't want it to rack up tons of miles.

Thats cool alfy... I never knew you were into drifting. So the Miata is the car of choice to drift? Makes sense, there light, nimble, and you can get the tail out on them fairly easy and control it without to much difficulty. I use to drift my 280Z back in 2000, before drifting became main stream in the states. Drifted on back roads and abandon roads, some parking lots.

I wonder if they will ever create races were guys can race together, say like 8 cars per race ,they race but drift on the corners, sort of like Ridge Racer, now that would be cool. Dangerous but cool....

Yah if i was 16 now (im 32 now) growing up and want to get into drifting for the first time. Miata would be my car of choice . the price of the car is cheap, i love the light and agile feel of the miata. Ae86 had those feeligns also, but in a miata due to tightness of the cockpit, i felt more with the car. not sure if that makes any sense lol.

when i got into drifting (16-21), you always seen ppl just driving silvia's, fc, hachiroku's (ae86) carina, 180 sx. so i guess the cool thing was to get the car every one else is driving.so AE86 was my choice at age 16.

but the best drivers i have ever seen are these 2 middle age drivers(at the time i was into drifting, also i thikn the drift king has nothing on these 2 drivers lol). they both drove twin looking miata's. Once you get experienced, the cool thing to do is drift the opposite way , then throw the weight at rear back so you can drift with the turn. but these 2 guys will haul *** which every one does (following each other very tightly), pull the ebrake cause the car to spin a 360 and right when the turn starts, they would catch their car to drift with the turn. i have not in my life seen better drivers then those 2. and btw this on mountain road that has a fall off to the next lvl.

i guess what they did is to show every one there that even though every one is driving the same car doesnt mean its the best car .

Cool I am 33, those drivers sound really talented. Doing a 360 then catching a drift into the turn, sounds Ridge racer-ish to me! LOL! Those are moves i could pull off in the game , never in real life....well maybe with a little practice!lol But those two drivers sound like they are really skillful and one with there car.

I know right. its one of those things when you see it, you ask your self did i see what i thought i have seen. its funny though, when those 2 guys show up, pretty much every one pulls to the side and gather at the first corner where they will do this stunt, and there will be ppl at the last corner also. Rumor was taht these 2 guys where taxi drivers, which wouldnt be suprising. There is a car club that the taxi drivers have. Nothing but old school Mazda's, nissans, toyota that they used for drag race. then there is a taxi club that only drive cars that are pimp style type of cars such as Toyota Mark II and use them for drifting . Best way to pic the type of car is, if you ever seen pics of a 4 Door skyline (1985-1993 RWD) all Gangsta up that is the car th ey are driving. so its like taking a 4 door G35 and using that car for drifting. here is a pic of a Toyota Chaser 90's model. Mark 11 looks the same.

I always wonder what if they had a Evo , STI or some type AWD car, what stunts can they pull off. such as making the car turn completely side ways before the turn. i know i have seen rally racers do it all the time, but to see in real life would be awesome.

any how, ill post interior pics today. forgot to take pics yesterday.
