just dont let her burn up your clutch and youll be ok... they seem to get the clutch pedal ok.. its the gas and clutch that mess up my wife. Once she just gives it some gas she ok . but most times as the clutch ingages she thinks its cool to let off on the Gas... Of course that makes my 8 buck like a wild bronoco . but shes getting it.. I let her drive it for the first time today ! she did ok.. She used to dive my Rx7 to L.A. and back daily.. but she never got good at shifting.

Nicething about the 8 .. they can drive around town in 1st gear all day

I taught my 16 yo to drive a stick on my 8 and it's no worse for it. I've taught many people to drive sticks and have never replaced a clutch early on any of those cars. I usually trade cars in between 80k and 120k and only remember one clutch replacement, so I guess I must be pretty easy on them, or just lucky.

I think with the 8, the problem is the engine revs so quiet that it's tough at first to know if you have given it enough gas when you let out the clutch. She will get used to it, if you let her work with it.

Shure. I rev it slightly, let the clutch go and give some gas.

Basically, the 8 is very easy to stick shift btw. No problem to start in 2nd gear, even 3rd should work. Any turbo diesel is far more difficult to drive imho. The question remains if the 8 is the perfect vehicle to learn stick shifting with, because moving the 8 is all about revs. If someone who learned to drive stick shifting with the 8 gets to drive her / his first "normal" car, well, poor engine ...
