Mobil 1 5w30 dose not meet API SM spec

Hey guys, Its been a while since I have been here.

I thought you all would be intrested in this new info.
I am a member over at BITOG, and this is the new hot topic-
Ashland(Valvoline has not only claimed to have 4x better wear protection than mobil 1, but they claim Mobil 1 5w30 DOSE NOT meet API SM specs.

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...15#Post1309815

***note I am not saying Mobli 1 dose not meet the specs, I am just relaying info.

I got a large dose of misspelling the word "does" by reading your post.

Oh my god. There's an entire website devoted to arguing over what oil is better.

And I thought the RX-8 crowd was bad about oil.

If this is true, it doesn't surprise me. Many companies these days spend much more money on marketing rather then on engineering a better product.

I just read that whole thread; WOW!

I'm going to keep observing this. Of course most people here know that I'm a Red Line kind of guy anyhow. Neither of these oils hold a candle to the exotic boutique blends (The real synthetics) like Amsoil and Red Line.

Paul.

Yup. Found this web site back in the day when I was looking into how oil brakes down and brake fluids too.

I found Bob forums years ago, but only go when I need to read up for some info I'm looking for. Those are some fanatics.
