yeah ok go up against the MX-5 with front wheel drive? Pontiac and Saturn tried it with decent rwd chassis- how'd that work out?

haha, good luck Mini.
prepared to get smashed as others have in the past. While the mini is a good car, the MX-5 has a great history and that car will only continue to get better.
as Charlie mentioned: just ask Pontiac and Saturn how it went when they tried.
oh wait...nevermind, both those companies are shutting down now. Good luck even getting a hold of them.

Matt, call me when you want to convert that toy with a 13b-msp :p
I have a couple of engines and transmission waiting to be used!
Anyway, that model shows that the mini is a 100% german car. Funny how a japanes car represents old british spyders and an old british make tries to fight that with a whole different concept.
Idiots will buy the bmw, drivers will buy the miata. Idiot drivers will buy an slk

mini's are already doing well here. so coupled with good mpg, and a small price tag... this may be the deal breaker. performance aside of course.
but getting into a car this small... its very hard to argue unfair advantages in FF/RWD layouts when both types will handle very well due to its small size.
in a way, i think this is how honda should revived their new CR-X.
