haha, good luck Mini.
prepared to get smashed as others have in the past. While the mini is a good car, the MX-5 has a great history and that car will only continue to get better.

as Charlie mentioned: just ask Pontiac and Saturn how it went when they tried.
oh wait...nevermind, both those companies are shutting down now. Good luck even getting a hold of them.

very dangerous model here in Italy and Germany..basically just for "brand power".

technically there's no competiton...Mazda is WAAAAAY better and with a REAL history behind

i post here a pic of my latest toy....purchased Saturday.....a lot of work to do but (i hope) a lot of pleasure of owning and drive

Matt, call me when you want to convert that toy with a 13b-msp :p
I have a couple of engines and transmission waiting to be used!

Anyway, that model shows that the mini is a 100% german car. Funny how a japanes car represents old british spyders and an old british make tries to fight that with a whole different concept.
Idiots will buy the bmw, drivers will buy the miata. Idiot drivers will buy an slk

it looks awesome. and it will steal a bunch of market from the mx5. mini has a better brand image than mazda, its more upmarket. so yuppies will be buying this when they want a 2 seater.

The MX-5 is the best selling sports car in history selling more than 800K units...
Lol the Mini doesn't stand a chance... and FWD? lol thats like a Honda Civic trying to compete with the MX-5

here in so-cal, i believe this is where real competition between the two will duke it out.

mini's are already doing well here. so coupled with good mpg, and a small price tag... this may be the deal breaker. performance aside of course.

but getting into a car this small... its very hard to argue unfair advantages in FF/RWD layouts when both types will handle very well due to its small size.

in a way, i think this is how honda should revived their new CR-X.

The car buying public are idiots. They don't know or care about the differences in FWD vs RWD. They look 1st at styling, 2nd MPG and 3rd safety. Most won't get within 50% of a cars capability.
