0-100kph=0-62mph not 0-60

Yep...I'm at work too. Nothing like an AM chub to go along with your coffee. Do you know who that is in the pic?

Danica will buy some bigger hoots after a few trips to the winner's circle and a little more prize money. I'd still hit it "as is" though.

I posted this in another thread. Here us my take on the MS6.

I was given a test drive in one yesterday. I was NOT blown away at all. The inside of the car is fairly boring, My 8 is nicer. The Handling seemed good for a sedan, again the 8 was better and the power was not what I was expecting, it felt more eager at lower revs and pulled a LITTLE stronger up to about 40 or 50mph other than that I think my 8 felt just as strong and at the higher end the 6 falls off and the 8 just keeps pulling. My estimate for 0-60 would be about 5.8 or 5.9 not much more than the 8, 1/4 and 0-100 about the same. I am not saying the car was crap, it is a very nice sedan, but I was a little dissapointed after all the hype from the saleman. To put it in perspective the 350Z and G35 coupe feel quicker and the 8 is almost as quick with better handling and brakes and a more exciting sounding and higher revving engine.

the mazdaspeed6 is much faster than the rx-8, +/- 3 cars in the 1/4, I have seen it.

I wont be surprice if the speed6 can make a 14 flat 1/4.

There was a recent aussie review that put the 0-60 closer to 6.0-6.2 seconds. The inital reviews were from canada, which is seeing ambient temps around 0-10F right now. When the air's that cold, the turbo machines go beserk. I wouldn't be surprised if they are seeing another 20-25 whp just from the IAT temps.

Still waiting on US reviewers to put the car through its paces in 70-80 ambients.

I'd love to see a Mazdaspeed 8, but i'd rather they bring back the RX7, with 2 turbos and increased displacement (1.5-1.6L) rotors. Keep it light, keep it simple, keep it reasonably priced ($30k-35k)

mazda is not going to do anything like that, maybe well see a mazdaspeed 8 with force induction, if mazda wanted an all out sports car they can make it right now they have everything in production allready, they just need the 2 door coupe prototype base on the rx-8/miata plantform and give it rx-8 brakes and a 20b renesis, they even have the transmision.

but lattetly I am lossing hope in mazda's rotary deparment since it was anounce that the coupe was not goin to have a rotary.

I am not going to argue with that, maybe the MS6 was new and the engine was tight, but it did not feel that much quicker, other cars I have driven including the 350Z, G35 coupe felt faster. Just my butt dyno. We will see what the Car & Driver, Road & Track guys get out of it. I bet 0-60 will be 5.7 or 5.8 and 1/4 mile will be 14.3 or 14.4. Remember a car length is worth a tenth in the 1/4. You claimed about 3 CL which puts the RX-8 around 14.6 or 14.7 which is the test figures given.

I'll be driving a couple MS6's tomorrow, if it's as good as new owners and mags are saying it will be my next car. Many in Canada have had their cars for a couple months and really enjoy them. From what I've seen on Mazda 6 forums Aussie mags and some Euro Mags are getting low to mid 5's?? I think it's a great alternative for certain people that want AWD and think the legacy GT is not sporty enough but the EVO and STI are overkill. Also I like the fact that it's limited production, it's engine will probably see duty in other cars so I'm sure that won't be a issue. In my area such a rig makes a lot of sense. I would have gone today but since it snowed and I have no winter tires my 8 is stationary

The only reviewers getting sub 6 seconds are in freezing climates.

The only test done on a MPS 6 when it was in the 80F's, ended up with a 6.4 0-60, and a 14.2 or so 1/4 time.

Heatsoak may be a massive issue on this car, data is still being collected. Unfortuantly (or purposely) mazda's inital release is in the middle of winter for 3/4 of the US. Doesn't help much that all the canadian owners are hopping around in sub 10F weather (some even below 0F). Nothing like an FI car with rediculously low IAT temps.

We're hoping to get some feedback from CA and Florida owners soon, and hopefully some mag reviews that are done in 70-80F weather.
