Mazmart shares 4 rotor love
I put together another impromptu gathering to view a classic Mazda race car that got a new lease on life.
We called this session the 'Elite Meet' and kept it's highlight secret. We told people to make sure they liked the Mazmart facebook page. We then told people to look out for the pending announcement of a sinificant meet. I posted a picture of the orange wing that says 'CHARGE' as the only hint. People were then told via our Mazmart.com facebook page when and where to meet but not why. They had to follow instructions to find me and say "Charge me!" between 6 and 6:30 pm yesterday evening. Sometime after 7pm we all gathered at our Downing Atlanta building (40 plus people) and began a picture taking session which was followed by the music of the best instrument loaned from God to men, the 4 rotor engine.
The 767B roared to life after some coaxing (Weak battery) and the people were entertained.
I thoroughly enjoyed sharing what we are privileged to partake of with people who took the time to show us some love on Facebook.
Special thanks for this video go to Rotary Car Club. Enjoy:

It's funny; the technology on this 4 rotor is circa 1990 and shares tech and geometry going back to the 60s and early 70s. If Mazda was super serious about campaigning a quad rotor today with higher goals and a clean slate we could see something quite impressive yet. Could you imagine a 3200 cc rotary revving to 9000 rpm? 800 hp with more than 500 lb/ft would be the result (Oh the dreams I dream )

It's as RIWWP expressed. For this or something like it to race today would require some sanctioning body to have to figure out it's equivalence and permit it to compete. It usually requires some political wrangling as with anything else. Right now Mazda has it's focus on Skyactiv Diesel but who knows what the future holds.
