the turbo kicks in very nicerly, and it handles great however, the ECU give a lil too much power to the front wheels so it'll understeer at fast corners!!!
and i think if the MS6 and the 8 race heads up.... it'll probaly take the 8 by at least 5-6 cars!!!

When the 8 gets a supercharger (or a turbo), then we can talk about the MS6
Maybe you should have gotten a red 8

Well, we all knew the Speed6 was going to be faster... but not by much... where the 8 wins is in handling... Despite the Speed6 being more powerful, it's got to hustle all that extra weight around...
Still a nice car... but not like a rotary powered car..

Rotaries all the way. With the 100% front regular bias the MS6 will never circle the pad at .90g like an 8 will. Still would be fun to test drive one.
I recall reading that the power really drops off after 5500rpm because the turbo runs out of breath. any comments??

According to www.mazda.ca , the recommended fuel is 93 octane. $$$
And they list the 0-60 time as 6.6?
Apparently Mazda is using the same engine for the upcoming Mazdaspeed 3 and the CX-7 (the SUV version of the 8 ) .
Enough already - bring on the Mazdaspeed 8

Lates,
blah blah blah neo, u said that it was gonna be slower and i said it was gonna be faster. but them both on a track i still think the MS6 will be faster, not by much. how could mazda let something be faster them there flagship model. same thing happened to the buick Gran National it eventually became faster they the corvette and GM caned it hahahaha, and blamed it on sales. AWESOME CAR THOUGH!! not saying mazda should can the ms6. now i they have to have aleast 300hp in the next rx7/8 to up the ms6
300hp whoohoo

A friend of mine is just picking up his MS6 today.. I can't wait to see it tomorrow.
With the extra weight it will get blown away by the RX-8 (but I think it would win in the 1/4 mile).

well the MSP 6 is a heavier car, and it gives us something that we dont have on the 8... turbo... but overall the 8s DO handle better... and they are 2 different type of vehicles, so i guess just personal preferrence of which one you'd like better!!!
in my opinion, if mazda would bring in the turbo version of the 8 in 2007 (what Mazda Canada told me), then there wouldn't be any doubt that we'd be eating everyone's food like the FDs back in the days!
however, it just seems like the trend that TURBO AWD is getting really popular!
Kevin Langman... u sure ur friend is pickin git up today? Mazda Canada only released the MSP6s to dealerships today and we have gotten a memo that not to deliver to anyone cuz they have a recall on all of them!!!

100% sure.. Just had a IM conversation with him a few min ago.. It's in his driveway as I type this. It was at the dealership on Monday morning. Maybe this dealership didn't get the recall notice in time?

I don't know what you guys are worried about... They're 2 completely different cars... The rotary will always be Mazda's flagship model.
Remember... It took the Mazdaspeed division to make the Mazda6 crazy powerfull...
I'm sure once they go over the RX-8, you'll get more power.... Maybe make it as powerful as the FD's... :D
I think the next one to have a make over is the Mazda3.... and then the RX-8... hell, maybe bring back the RX-7!

u know ive noticed that everytime a car is slower than another car... the owners of the slower car attack the handling department...roll eyes...
our cars are sports cars .. engineered to handle and be quick only on SPECIFIC tracks that have small straights.
the fact is the MS6 is A SEDAN NOT A SPORTS CAR (stop comparing, handling isnt the number one thing on the minds of sedan-buyers, overtaking on the highways is!!!!!!!)
ITs quick with the aid of a turbo...it will BEAT the 8.. just like almost any other car in the 8s price range and some below...(Srt-4)
we could Rev to 7K rpms or even roll from 60... and will LOOOOOOOOSE. FACE IT!!
If you want a great handling car and quick 0-60s.. then look into a slightly modified FD.
if you want raw power in the same price range.. look into the new Mustang or an older SVT..
now if you want the exclusivity of a roootary with well a engineered chasis, and the luxury of comfortably seating 4 with all the modern amenities of a sedan.. then you buy an 8. thats why i bought it. for the look and exclusivity.
if i wanted a quick car with good handlig to sudue my adrenaline, a used STi, FD, SRT-4... etc. etc. can do all that.
Our car has decent get-up-and-go with objectional looks and a roootary engine...now doesnt that raise an eyebrow!

Stuck in a love triangle
I think you guys are SERIOUSLY overestimating the Mazdaspeed 6's acceleration due to its 280 lbs/ft of torque. That's a hell of a lot more torque than the RX-8 makes. I still think the RX-8 can out perform it when launched perfectly..which is not so easy to do.
Like I already stated on the other Rx8 vs Mazdaspeed 6 thread:

With 280 lb-ft torque, 274 hp, and ~3600 curb weight...I'm assuming that it's going to out perform the RX-8 in all areas except for launches. Better street start, 30-50, 50-70, passing power, and so on. This is the same problem the RX-8 has against most cars. As a daily driver the Mazdaspeed 6 is going to have better acceleration than an RX-8. But from a complete stop, the RX-8 should still have slightly better times when properly launched...and better handling, as usual.

I work at Oakville Mazda and this past Thursday we lined up the MS6 and the RX8 and the RX8 was hands down the winner. The MS6 is nice but the 8 is quicker. On the highway at higher speeds the MS6 is alot of fun.

Actually, the first review to actually benchmark the MPS 6 put its 0-60 time around 5.3 to 5.5 seconds. Since the standard 6 gets a .87g on the skidpad, I'd also gander the MPS 6 would be closer to .9g.
Estimates about the MPS 6's' 1/4 mile time are the low 14's to high 13's, with an estimated trap speed of about 100 mph.
