Great article, thanks for sharing. In it they mention that an FIA approved race car can be had for about 10,000. I think they are missing another 0...

Strange. The excuse for not making a MazdaSpeed 3 or 6 is that they are more mature and want to be more luxurious...... aaaaand they invest in racing.

They mention that a typical Spec race car can be built/bought for $10k. That sounds about right for a Spec Miata.

Nah that's sounds like full price. Obviously it can be more than that, but it can also be just that for a bare bones spec car. This is the whole point of spec miata: cheap entry into racing.

We're not talking about a fully featured production line car here

I like Mazda. The only other brand I find is as visible and supportive with enthusiasts is BMW. And even then, not sure they have a factory parts store like Mazdaspeed.

That's the point, you can build a used NA Miata to spec in 10k and be competitive.

Thanks for the clarification Loki. Is the 10k the cost for the whole spec car or just the mods ? I know my RX7s cost much more to mod for racing back in the day.
