Mazda Patent -Twin Turbos AND Electric Driven Supercharger
Patent Images
Both the schematic (Fig. 1) and drawing (Fig. 4) below show a gas-powered engine with two exhaust-driven turbochargers (11 and 15) operating in parallel with a single supercharger driven by electricity. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...f514c0345e.png https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...1beb320a06.png |
i really like the idea of driving the supercharger with power from the eloop supercapacitor
|
 that in the patent is an RWD layout...this is what Mazda needs to go upmarket DEFINITELY

The article only shows part of the patent.
Mazda says its a 4 cyl diesel Supercharging Device For Engine (Mazda Motor) There was another patent a few weeks ago for a controller that predicts pre ign in the upcomeing skyactiv x explains how they prevent pre ign when in spark mode without lowering the effective compression ratio.http://www.freshpatents.com/-dt20170...0170226953.php |
yeah the first link in my post is to the complete patent
|
I was like:jump:then I saw it was for a piston engine and was
|
Yes saw this patent leaked several days ago. Well maybe all their new piston engine tech will produce cars that catch on and sell well, allowing them to bring us the new rotary.

Just like their new HCCI engines, if things go well, these technologies will find their way to improve the next rotary engine. |

I think it makes sense for Mazda to try them out on piston engines first, as piston engines are, admittedly, a more tried design.
