Mazda Kabura
ASH8:IMO the RX-8 is and was the RX-7 replacement...because the way Mazda uses model codes, and their history of them...but that's another story...
the rx-8 is not a replacement for the rx-7 the replacement for the rx-7 will be call RX-7 like the firts gen was replace by the fc and the fd replace the fc.
that its if mazda decides to make another rx-7.the rx-7 prototipe was seen by a lot of people in japan mazda headquarters in 2004 it looks somewhat like the kabura but the front its diferent and its a 2 door but mazda pull the plug on it.

i think an entry level $20k REAR-WHEEL-DRIVE coupe will really shake up the current FWD-dominant 'sport compact' market, aimed squarely at young people
time to teach the youngin's what a REAL sportscar should feel like

Exactly. We want Mazda to increase their market share, profit, and customer base so they can in turn give us a 4 rotor super car...or go back to their V12 super car plans. It's all about the big picture

and that sporty coupe can be the platform for a hi performance 2 door sport car, 3 models sharing the same platform ( rx-8, miata and kabura) will get the cost of this car way down.

Actually I would like them to bring back the Amanti concept of developing a large luxury sedan. It seems that the leading edge of Mazda's styling focus is aimed at the *boy racer* crowd. I understand *zoom zoom* and *soul of a sportscar* ... but it's getting a bit long in the tooth. We will have to wait and see how a Turbo 4 cylinder crossover vehicle hits with the general Rx300, MDX, Pilot buying public... With the Millenia gone Mazda doesn't have a luxury sedan flagship as the other Japanese brands offer. Bring in the high line buyer and interest will flow to the other models. And while they are at it bring in an all Mazda pick up. That one is even longer over due...

This article claims target weight is less than 2400 pounds (for purposes of comparison, the RX-8 gained ~200 pounds from the RX-EVOLV concept).
I'm mucho disappointed that they dropped the rotary for this, but it's a very interesting vehicle. I'd consider getting one if:
I'm mucho disappointed that they dropped the rotary for this, but it's a very interesting vehicle. I'd consider getting one if:
- its weight is under 2500 pounds
- its price is under $20k
- it drives like a Miata (handling, braking, steering, shifter, road feel, etc)
- the front pax seat has an airbag kill switch

The 6 needs to be bigger to compete with Camry and Accord. It would be nice if Mazda manages the keep the weight down.
Has anyone noticed the windshield? While I really like the looks of this car I can't see it as anything other than an exercise in design. I would to see what happens the first time you get a crack in that window...
It is a concept car. It is supposed to be wild and crazy and loaded with stuff a production car will never see. Im amazed that so many people expect this car to be production and street legal as a concept car.
^^Not directed to you Apex Eater...I just see those complaints on every single board I visit.

But this one is exciting because there were rumors a few months back that Mazda's upcoming "RX-3" concept was likely to be headed for production. If that's true, whatever the changes are, they should be mostly aesthetic (unless Mazda reverses their decision about using the rotary).

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet. I searched this thread and came up with nothing.
Kabura Forums
edit: Ok so I now see it was mentioned in the other Kabura threads. My bad.
