Mazda Hakaze Concept Revealed

The front looks like Sound Waves mouth from the old school Transformers Series.

i don't really see the similartiy....but, as for the car, blech

mtrevino 02-05-2007 09:12 AM

Ufff... that front is pretty bad, I like the soundwaves comparrison (I'm hopeing the new movie doesn't blow). Outside of that, the rest looks very European... like a mix of a new mazda2 and mazda3. It's not a car aimed at me, but it looks alright (except for that front).

Mazda needs to come down off the acid trip and design something good.

Keep up the gross concepts that are designed for the year 2030 Mazda :icon_tup:

Yawn. Mazda's concepts, except for the kabura, suck major ass.

pdxhak 02-05-2007 02:56 PM

I understand Mazda is working off a a theme but it would not hurt to change it up a bit.

BigOLundh 02-05-2007 04:59 PM

I saw the pic and couldnt stop laughing out loud.
LOL <-- Litereally!!!

I agree with whoever made the acid trip reference earlier. This concepts look retarded.

The Kabura designer(s) must've quit. Everything since then looks to be designed by Japanese preschoolers.

Spin9k 02-05-2007 05:32 PM

Other than the absurd front:puke: it 's an ok design, but still just another suv-ette aka 'crossover' :boring: . Mazda is stuck in a really wierd place with these word-anagram clone concepts.

Clavius 02-05-2007 05:46 PM

Looks like Mazda allowed Tonka to design a concept car like seriously? maybe its the color and metal paint but ewww... and enough with the wave effect in on the sides. Oh also start making concepts based a bit closer to our era, its nice to know your thinking of the future but this entire 2030 and beyond theme is getting old kinda quick. And with the Ford Reflex Concept looking like the Kabura it seems that Ford kinda said "well if your not gonna use it we are!".

dillsrotary 02-05-2007 07:19 PM

single piece glass windshield to roof again :)

Ajax 02-05-2007 07:28 PM

I'm not sure what to make of this one.. I'm trying to figure out if this is another crazy door concept vehicle..
The front end is strange. It creates interesting lines throughout the car though. If you look at the back, it resembles the back of the last 2 concepts as well.
My favorite thing about this car is actually the color. That is the best looking yellow that i've seen in a long time.

Tirminyl 02-05-2007 09:30 PM

Thats it. The new RX8 will have sliding doors and a single glass windshield/roof.

let me guess, this one has 2.5 seats, and they are stacked on top of each other.

vectorwolf 02-06-2007 12:38 AM

If the fascia were a black grille, and the ripples were gone, it would pretty much look like a CX-7 or -9, wouldn't it? Sure this isn't an old concept for those?

rx8wannahave 02-06-2007 08:31 AM

...also, it looks like a 4 seater. Ummm, Mazda...4 seater is great for a sports car but for almost everything else it's more of a pain than anything.

I agree, Mazda is not wowing me with some of this stuff. Why not come out with a RX8 concept instead of more and more cars from 2030?

mtrevino 02-06-2007 09:49 AM

I like the angle from the side.... and sorry to say, I do like the doors.

If I had a loft-dwelling girlfriend that lived in the middle of the city and designed cool unique furniture, I think she would like this car cross-over. But I don't have one of those types of girlfriends.

Also, to the person who mentioned the designer of the Kabura... he works for Mazda North America and he was the primary designer of the Nagare. His name is Franz Von Holzhausen
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franz_von_Holzhausen
...the dude also designed the Solstice.

So what would be the purpose of adding a 4 CUV/SUV to Mazda's lineup? I'd prefer to see something along the lines of that last concept they had. Looked like a hatchy sedan or something.

If Mazda wants to add to their line-up they should add a large sedan or a 4 seat convertible. And of course the Kabura.

m477 02-06-2007 01:57 PM

From TFA:

"It expresses Nagare "flow" on the outside with sand-dune like surface iteration...and insightful functionality to meet the demands of adventurous lifestyles like kite-surfing"

Um, WTF? Sand dunes? Kite surfing? Seriously, WTF. Sounds like a lot of marketing BS talk trying to justify a crappy design.

Mazda needs to fire this Franz von David Hasselhoff loser, and I can't believe I'm saying this, take a lesson from Dodge and Ford. Specifically the Viper and GT respectively -- make concept cars that are things people actually want, then people will shove money in your face and demand that you build it. Instead, Mazda's got people scratching their heads and wondering what they're smoking.

Gambit 02-06-2007 02:01 PM

^they have done that...the rx-8 jumps to mind as an example

or more recently, the MX-crossport aka CX-7

ASH8 02-07-2007 02:30 AM

Could this be the look of the new CX-5 in 2008?
