The Mazda Family - the R3 Got a New Friend

Well I had planned to make the ultimate sacrifice for my wife and trade the R3 in on a CX9 for her. But after following me home from Cars and Coffee, where I had parked it with a for sale sign on it, she couldn't let me do it. Cars and Coffee was pretty much a rain out anyway. We ended up trading in her C-Class instead.

We drove several SUVs, but the CX9 drives so nice. It was a no brainer, plus that's what she's wanted for 2 years anyway. She even got the color she wanted.

Now we're a happy Mazda family!

The only reason we were considering not trading in her car is because it was paid off, so we would only have one car payment. But considering it was a Mercedes w/ 100k on it, we weren't willing to take the chance on big repair bills. Plus I get to keep my baby. I've grown accustomed to driving sideways! Hoowhaaa!! And the R3 is just so dang cool looking and sounds soooo nice.

Adding another mazda to the family, like myself. Anyway, congrats on purchasing the CX-9. My wife wanted an SUV, but were still thinking what kind of an SUV to get. Our first choice would be the Hummer H2 (should have a high mileage to afford it...lol), but we have an eye on a CX-9 too. We haven't decided what to get yet.

Next time you see a H2, check out the teeny little disklets they call brakes!

They look a little smaller than a DVD!

I saw one with some ginormous 22" or 24" wheels - made the brake-ettes look even smaller!

Wisht I hadz me a camera.

Okay, okay, okay...forget the H2 then, our first choice now is the CX-9. Thanks for your smart opinions.

2008 I was going to buy my wife a CX-7 but she liked the Tribute better. Last year we had issues with the transmission which Mazda replaced under warranty but the new one failed under test. So far the new one is okay as we have made numerous trips and running great. Next year we are going for the CX-9. Real nice vehicle with a bit more room and better interior comfort. Good luck with yours.

We were really kneeling to an H2, but the CX-9 has better gas mileage. Not really sure what to get for now. Anyway, i test drove an H2 and a CX-9, and i like the feel of the H2. However, the CX-9 has a softer ride and has a lower mileage than the H2. We might car shop this weekend again.

Congrats on the new purchase and keeping your 8. I'm sure you got bonus points for offering to trade/sell it.

We are a multi-Mazda too: my 8, and younger son with Speed3, older had a 6 till some idiot hit him. Of course, now he has a 135i.

Enjoy the double dose of zoom zoom !

Thanks, I did get bonus points for that!!

Yeah we are excited to be an all Mazda family. My wife thinks the Mazdaspeed 3 would be a good car for our son when he turns 16. I had to tell here, it's a pretty fast car.

Ha...my son got his speed3 at 18. I knew it was quick, but not as quick as it really is until I drove it...AFTER we'd taken it home. Oops.

His older brother was PO'd as I'd vetoed his desire for a speed6 a few years earlier...was upset his younger bro had a faster car. There's no winning sometimes as a parent ! At least you did ok as a spouse. Keep the 8 till it dies I thought about selling mine a while back, but now I'm just modding it to make it new again!

I agree on the parent thing. I'll just buy them all identical cars! Yep I did do well on the spouse thing, and I'll just keep my RX8 until the next generation RX comes out. And then hopefully still keep my RX8. I'm constantly kicking myself for letting my last RX7 go!
