Excellent! I saw this car at the NY auto show, and it is very impressive. Looks like Mazda keeps hitting them out of the park with each model.

The new small minivan (the 5) is also really cool!

Will it have the freestyle doors? I'm assuming so at least from the photo.

I wonder if they will move on a hybrid version the first year, sharing the Ford Escape engine/motor? If not, they definitely should by year 2. Looks good, though I'd never buy one.

I really don't see big brother sharing the hybrid platform until they squeeze the turnip for all the blood they can get.

The platform will accept every powerplant in the inventory..(sans our 9k)

I may find space in my garage for this one. Hopefully the production version will have the concept exterior, and lose the Shinka interior! I hate how the Dodge Charger turned out....nothing like the original concept.

Nope. Took me a while, but I found a photo. They are hinged at the "B" pillar with hidden door handles.

It'd be nice if those 20" wheels made the cut....

What I hope they do is put at least a V6, possibly the one from the Mazda 6. I havent seen any photos of anything next to it, I am assuming it is about the size of a Murano anyone know this?

I read it is smaller than the Murano...but the Murano is very large

this has the Mazda6 platform so don't expect it to be much bigger than the 5 door Mazda6

It's 4630mm long, 1930mm wide and 1630mm high. That makes it 8 inches longer than the RX-8, 6.5 inches wider and nearly 12 inches higher.

Mazda are keeping quiet on the engine, but it would have be a V6. It's got dual exhausts ferchissake! Triple rotor, maybe..... :p

Well the Duratec 3.5 isn't slated to enter Ford's sedan lineup until the '07MY when it will be applied to the Zephyr, Fusion, and Milan as optional engines first-off while production ramps up. The Five Hundred, Montego, and Freestyle are slated to get the engine standard in the '08MY.

So, at the very least, Mazda won't be getting the new 3.5 in the Crossport the first year, and probably not until the 2nd or even 3rd years while Ford ramps up production. Mazda's going to have to outsource if it wants something other than the 3.0, as Ford's other truck/SUV engines are not designed for the platform or FWD (and I believe the Crossport isn't only AWD) applications.

I'm glad to see that Mazda is on a roll with new products. The more of these bread and butter projects that come out--the more money for fun projects from Mazdaspeed and development for sporty cars. I am actually liking this crossover--and I usually am unmoved by most SUVs.

Apart from that big black plastic front grille, I like it a lot.

Hopefully it'll keep its style in production form, since right now it looks 10k times better than the murano or highlander.

Highlander? Are you kidding? Murano has similar lines and the FX from Infiniti. The Crossport inspires emotions not often found in the Sport Ute market. The FX being the first to combine so much sportiness with the SUV. Think of the Crosssport as an old man's Infiniti FX. :D

still doesn't get around the fact the Murano and FX (virtually same car just one has more options) are oversized hunks of metal and fugly

Fvck the ford v6. I'd be happy with the fuel efficiency of the 4cyl. 2.3 mzr engine. If it came turboed, that will be a bonus. I'm positive it won't come with the 20's. Hopefully they will change the front grill b4 final production. But ya, I am seriously interested in buying one.

I've posted similar stuff before about this SUV, if they build it...my wife will have a new car...well, maybe...but I would love to get her this when it comes out.

It's like the RX8's older brother or something...lol

I'm sure it will come with the Ford V6--if it does, the turbocharged 4 from the MS6 would be the flagship engine. Hopefully Mazda takes a couple of pages from the Nissan FM style product sharing guide.
