Mazda CX-7 to FINNISH, CX-5 (Minagi) to Take Over according to GoAuto
Not so sure about the CX-7 demise, but it has merit, as I don't think having 3 SUV's would work for Mazda....?

yeah, mazda doesn't need 3 suv's i don't think, plus the tribute (do they still make that??)
i absolutely LOVE the look of this new car. inside and out, it's awesome. i really hope they don't water it down so much it loses everything that's making it cool looking!

Cx-5 don't replace Cx-7 IMHO
people still buy Tribute ? seriously.
If CX-5 can seat 5, assume using the Sky Activ drivetrain, it should be able to do 25-30 mpg with around 170-200 hp.
then I wouldn't be surprised to see CX-7 to "go away"

Mazda Tribute finishes this year when the all new Ford Escape is Launched by Ford for 2012MY.
The Ford Escape (Tribute) is also sold here in Australia..
The Mazda Tribute has not been available since the CX-7 was launched here back in 2006.
As GoAuto says the all new Mazda CX-5 will go on-sale here in early 2012.
The CX-7 will remain on sale for a while, then later phased out once and IF the CX-5 takes off OK.
That is how I read it and how it will be for the NA/Europe markets.
Once the CX-7 is finished, Europe (like Russia) may get the all new CX-9 which might just be scaled back size wise, all so slightly and with smaller SKY-D Diesel Engines.
Again IMO much will depend on Gas Prices and sales analysis, every Auto Maker will be and is in the same boat.
Considering the US imports so much crude and US dollar is still on the weak side, then the cost to import crude remains high.
Difficult times ahead, I cant see Gas getting much cheaper at all, High US prices are here to stay...IMO

damn today I feed my Mazda3 (which I drive mostly now) cost me like 40 something bux.
One of the reason I drive my 8 less is that the roads are so f-king broken in NYC, Bloomberg refuse to fix them, instead he just use all the funds to do useless projects.
High oil price will stay yes ... we all know why (i don't want to get into politics here), in the end it will screw everybody over again, but when it happens, it will be much worst than what happened 2-3 years ago. oh yea.
Love the looks of the CX-5, and the concept.
Always did like the CX-7 but it is a bit too big for my tastes, and had a hard time justifying one when an Outback gets so much better gas milage.

Trouble is Jackson, here in Australia the public are SO apathetic and (Dumb/Stupid) we just put up with it...We NEED an Egyptian style Revolt!!..
Here it is BEND Over and take the rough end of the pineapple...Unbelievable..!!
FFS, how can you guys BUY a brand New RX-8 for $18K when ours here is $60K, but our Dollar is worth 1 cent more than the US Dollar????
Yep, your currency just makes all IMPORTS more expensive (like Crude), we have been putting up with this BS for Decades, our Petrol (Gas) went up when we floated our dollar in 1985, since our $$ has hit US $$ parity, do the oil companies reduce the price of GAS...NO...greedy bastards, just like New Car Importers here, making HUGE extra profits because of our higher valued dollar.....BASTARDS!

the way our government "prints" money is another problem, funny thing is Berneke said "oh I don't see inflation" ... I was like "yeeeaaaAAAaaaaaa"
I think they should just kill CX-9, I rarely see it on the road, lots of Cx-7 tho.
i don't think they'll do that...they want to keep that 3rd row option for bigger families that need it. that's a big segment. i see a decent amount in my area. more 7's than 9's, but still plenty of 9's.
Wrong Moncie- the CX-7 debuted first AND its on a different platform than the CX-9
NYGPS- Thats the silliest thing you've said all week, bro. The CX-9 is the top rated vehicle in its class. It just won ANOTHER award and also got a Consumer Reports "Best Buy". CX-9, the 3 and the Mazda 5 are their top rated/reviewed vehicles. CX-9 isnt going away

honestly i have some doubt about a cx-9 II with a Ford engine under the hood.....what engine instead?
Mazda 6 V6 will have small life if Flat Rock is abandoned.....
or build CX-9 II @ Flat Rock?
doubts.....

maybe its just a NYC thing ?
it doesn't matter how many awards they win if no one (NYC?) buys it, remember, Rx-8 won a lot of awards too
if its that way (cx9 actually doing well), then it might be better to kill cx-7 of. consider Cx-7 and CX-9's target market is so close to each other. it might be better to release something like CX-5 to take over CX-7's position and leave it as is.
but I don't know, since CX-9 is using (is it still? don't know) Ford's 3.7 engine and we all know the relationship between Ford and Mazda is history. they might actually replace it with something else?
Surprising. I see more CX-9s than I do CX-7s. Years after the release, the CX-9 is still holding up extremely well against its competitors and still gets top ranks from reviewers.
