I have driven the E36 M3, at one time I wanted one. It is a nice car, but not what I am looking for by a long shot.

How about the new C6 Corvette? It's got killer performance and looks to match at a price many can afford.

While I have great respect for its performance capabilities, I am not to keen on its looks. I am also turned off by the interior. I know that they updated it, it looks too be laid out and executed better than the C5, but the materials are still crap. As well, Corvettes are a dime a dozen where I live.

Its very blissfull in the same way the rx8 is.
I'm with you. I hope to own one by the end of the year. If only the '8 got better gas mileage and was a bit more roomy on the inside.

My brother has an E46 M3, and it's not my cup of tea at all. I would say go with the NSX, it's an awesome car.

Testarossa, dated? No sir . . .

Saw a cherry silver 'rossa at the post office this spring, snapped a bunch of pics but I"m not at home and can't post 'em right now. The car is dead sexy. So low, so wide, so hot. Trust me, in person the Testarossa is the shiznit.

Peace

Personally, I think the RX-8 looks way better than an M3. I don't think performance was what he was complaining about. I think he doesn't like the styling of the M3. It doesn't look like a sports car. From a distance, the M3 doesn't look much different than a 2-door 3-Series.

Just get a 97+ NSX. Its got decent performance. Car and Driver tested a 01 NSX (97-01 are pretty much identical) a few years back getting 0-60 mph at 4.5 secs, 1/4 mile at 12.9s at 109 mph. Thats probably close to M3 performance right? Heck if you lived closer, I'd let you try mine out.

Additionally--with that 50grand you get a shittier interior. The M3s interior does not lookas good as the Rx8s interior at leastin my opinion.
